Brake boosting

I am tuned by Torrie, I am VTA and was expecting to hear the the BOV's if I brake boost and then let off the throttle but I do not. If I rev the ending I hear them. I know the ability to build boost while on the brake is something that is set in the tune and assumed it was with all Unleashed tunes. Does this mean its not setup in this way? When I rev and they go off I have to get the RPM's up to 4K or more, but brake boosting I obviously stay at about 2k.

Thanks,
Scott

Rhetorical question. I had assumed when people were braking off the line and holding the RPM's at about 2k they were building boost. Is this not the case?

So the ability to build boost while on the brake is not something he does without requesting it?
I'm pretty sure the stock tune is set up for brake boosting and at the same time sends power to the rear diff.

I'm pretty sure I'm building boost cause at 2500RPM the brakes can no longer hold the car.

But if you are not deep enough into the pedal then you wont be commanding that much torque....i never really go more than about 25% throttle when i brake boost...i dont like doing it to the car

Yeah maybe I am just being a puss about it and not giving it enough throttle. Anyways, I could also stop being lazy and just plug in my BT OBD and torque to see what is happening. BTW the VTA is fun, louder than I had thought it would be. Maybe now I can instigate some action in the MKS.

Although some of the guys do seem to build boost while brake torquing, I have never been able to build much, if any at all.  I don't like putting that much strain on components.  I use an Aeroforce gauge to monitor boost, among other things.  Here is a video where I brake boosted to a little over 2000.  If I recall, the gauge was showing hardly any boost until I floored it.

Great info, thanks for sharing Bruce! And to the other poster, no DP's here and my BOV's are always making noise, just a bit on the throttle and let of and i hear them. Of course they get much louder when I really get in it and snap the throttle shut.

Dang it, AJ, I was expecting an insult or wisecrack from you!  You disappointed me, man!  Not only have I learned a few things from your posts but I also laugh out loud at some of your comments.  :)

Sorry to disappoint....i find it hard to say rude things to people that say sensible things

This thread is killing me. It's not called "Brake boosting" it's called "Left foot Braking" there was a video about the Audi Quattro years ago about how it's done and how the Audi dominated because of it. I'll try and find and post a link . If anyone can find it, please post a link. It does work I have tried it. It also works on front wheel only cars. with or without a turbo. No so much for power but for handling.

So in short, if you come flying up to a turn and you hit the brakes. This transfers the weight to the front of the car/truck. Stay on the brakes and apply full throttle. You are going to use your brake as to accelerate by lifting. In a turbo car/truck your boost is already built up due to full throttle. When you straighten out and fully release the brake you will shoot forward due to full boost already being built up.

Found it 4 min mark. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuxwR5i6Vlo

I call it brake boosting and i like it that way

This thread is getting down right weird, now I'm agreeing with AJ? WFT!? Semantics, call it what you like its the same damn thing. I come from rice we call it brake boosting. And the point of the thread was for me "new to this platform" to find out of the car is actually building boost while at a standstill, holding the brake and revving the engine to 2-2.2k. Apparently little if any.

In the Mazda we could tune for flat foot shifting "maybe Audi has a name for that too" which would float "my word" the rpms so they would not drop below 5k when keeping the gas to the floor but at the same time not allow it to hit the rev limiter. This of course kept the boost up so once you were in the next gear and let the clutch out you were on your f'in way. Glad I don't have to worry about that anymore, I am far from a professional drive :)
