Catted downpipes and Corsa catback

So I have the corsa catback on my 2014 SHO. Thinking about getting "catted" downpipes, most likely the PPE downpipes.

My question is if anyone was running the Corsa before getting catted downpipes and when you did go with downpipes, how much louder did it make it both inside and out? Noticeably louder?

I'm trying to avoid being louder.  YouTube vids do provide go feedback on sound tone but not volume.

I don't know about the SHO, but my experience with the PPE downpipes & Corsa catback in my 2015 Explorer Sport was not good.  It was very raspy; sounded like a bad ricer.  I only had it on for 5 days before I finally removed the catback, and eventually sold it (at a huge loss).  I considered welding in some Vibrant resonators (even bought some) to tame the rasp, but I never did.  I know another Explorer owner here did weld in the resonators, but he too sold his exhaust.

I have been running this setup for well over 3 years now based on my signature!!
SHOdded was the first to see my setup in person. Z

Pros-It sounds great without it being overly loud with absolutely zero drone to the cabin.
The overall quality is by far second to none IMO..

Cons- There is a eminent, noticeable rasp only during wot, high rpm.
I would say from my personal experience that the frequency of the sound changes with ever up-loaded tune.

Here is a member which installed resonators which hawkeye93 mentioned above.

Was your setup on the Explorer with catted or cattless DPs?  I know the catless will create rasp for sure, but heard catted doesnt and just concerned about noticeably exhaust increase.

Thanks for info.

I'm running the catted LMS dps with the Corsa and found on my car that the tone became deeper with the down pipe exhaust combo.

Did you have the Corsa on before the catted DPs?  If so, was it noticeably louder once the dps got installed?

Also, notice a good power gain from them?

Did it make the Corsa noticeably louder in and outside the cabin?

Hows the power gain feel from it?

Now the tone is definitely deeper but I wouldn't say much more louder than running the Corsa only.  I used to have an 2010 with just the Corsa and it sounded pretty damn good. Now with my 2013 it has the same growl, just a deeper tone. As for just the seat of the pants dyno (mind you I have also updated to a LMS V11 93 tune) it is much more responsive and an absolute animal in the upper rpms! One benefit I was not counting on was picking up  1 to 1.5 MPG!

I may have to look at the Livernois catted dps now.  They are cheaper lol.

Any issues with the catted Livernois throwing a CEL after install?

No, the tune update avoids CELs, however there are some threads if you look into it, that cause issues with emissions due to the rear o2s being adjusted for and not being able to pass the emissions ready test.

Any downpipes other than PPE will also trigger the CEL with the stock tune.  Just a consideration if you are still under warranty and need to flash the car to  stock for dealer trips.

I'm running AJPs 3 bar tune.

FWIW most Tuners disable the rear 02 sensors with the exception of Torrie from (unleashed)IIRC to eliminate a Cel which is just a band-aid masking the issue.

If your State requires emissions testing as mentioned earlier be prepared to swap your DP if other than PPE DP are used based from my very own experience. Z

My county in Texas does not do emissions testing so I guess the catted LMS would work for me. I have an unleashed tune so I wonder if I would get a CEL or if he can remove it via a tune update.

After listening to the last two vids. Catted DPs and Corsa Catback I believe are the plan for me.

Any catted or non-catted will work if you don't have emission testing and are no longer in warranty.

If you have testing or are still under warranty and don't want to have to change DP's for testing/dealer visits, then PPE catted or stock are the only options as they can be used with stock programming and not trigger the CEL.
