Cleaning the MAP Sensors - where and how many?

I need to clean the MAP sensors on the SHO and I found just two - by throttle body and on top of engine. Are there only these two? I wanted to shoot some MAF sensor cleaner on them and clean off. I don't run a catch can and I also run an oiled filter, so they most likely need cleaned. My gas mileage has dropped from 24/26 to 21, so I figured now was a good time to have a look. Car has 31k miles.

Do you have winter gas in your area?  That can cause a 10% mpg drop, easy.  But getting into a routine with MAP cleaning is a great idea.

Damn Z..im into taking care of a car also....i even change brake and clutch fluid and power steering fluid on cars that have that but every oil change lol...not gonna hurt but the reason oil never really causes a problem for map sensors is oil has no effect on the diaphragm...the amount of deflection  of the diaphragm is transferred to the transducer which gives an electrical reading....on a maf sensor the oil can insulate the element wires which will require a different current to heat the wires to the required temp

Thanks!! The ecoboost F150 folks are cleaning theirs (3 of them) very often and it really helps with the idle and gas mileage.

Yes, I do have winter gas here, but this issue of poor gas mileage has been around since the summer. I do know that degradation of gas mileage on these engines is indicative of an issue(s), so I figured I would start with the MAP sensors tomorrow since my air filter was just cleaned/oiled. I actually switched from K&N filter oil to Green Filter oil which is actually safe for the electronic sensors. I know that new spark plugs are in my very near future since I already have 31k miles on the factory plugs. I just wasn't looking forward to changing them.

Thats very debatable...the 02 sensors constantly adjust to ensure a perfect commanded mixture.

Where are the 3 map sensors? ...interesting...im curious ...so there is the map and tip sensors..where is the 3rd?

I found a pic and it looks like a map sensor....seems pointless.....but id say the purpose is to have a barometric pressure reference for atmosphere....the tune does have items that address it

Some people tell me their airfilter made a difference....i usually prefer hard evidence...havent seen any from spraying down a map sensor...how does it affect the internal diaphragm of the sensor?

Issues they had before are gone after the cleaning- you figure it out.
Purely as a matter of interest, what were the issues the guys had?

I don't see how cleaning can hurt if you have the time... But what symptoms could it resolve?

I won't argue with you. Cleaning these often has proven benefits.
All I am asking for is what the benefits you know of are.... A simple exchange of knowledge is all... I would like to be educated, not to argue.

Clears up idle issues, and gas mileage issues.

I would highly recommend that the folks in this forum follow the other ecoboost forums. This engine has a ton of issues, but can work through most of them. Keep in mind this is a FINIKY engine.

For that matter, it is VERY handy to use search engines to traverse the internet :)  The problems with the longitudinal engines thankfully do not seem to occur as frequently with the transverse engines, but it could be a game of sheer numbers.  Most folks do not have buildup issues with the PCV system or in the CAC, but those who do have good luck with solutions such as lower volatility engine oil, catch cans, etc.  Modifying the CAC definitely has potential as a solution if the vehicle suffers the stutter issue, but it certainly should not be left open to the elements.  As BiGMaC suggested, put a petcock/drain valve on it.  You could also work with your dealer and see if Ford would spring for a valve cover replacement in this case.
