ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Determine the level of software in the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) by navigating to the system information screen on the 8 inch radio display. Select:
a.Menu
b.Help
c.System Information
1.If the last five numeric digits (e.g. 4.30.13171.PRODUCT) are 13171, proceed to Step 2.
2.If the last five numeric digits are not 13171, this article does not apply. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-02 for normal diagnosis.
2.Perform SYNC module (APIM) custom programming. Refer to WSM , Section 415-00.
a.When the scan tool displays the list of available software, make sure the software version DA5T-14D544-BD (V3.6) has a green check mark. Also select the ambient light settings restore EA5T-14D546-AMA.
1.If the system auto-selects several other applications, proceed with the applications auto-selected.
b.Select continue and follow the on screen prompts.
c.As the programming is being performed, several reboots may occur.
d.Once the programming is completed, return the thumb drive to the scan tool to report software installation to the Ford online database.

My ambient lighting goes back to ice blue after a week or a few days.  Never on next ignition recycle.  Wonder if they will update it...
 
I'd assume your relationship with the dealer will determine whether they will perform the TSB even if it is "out of scope" per the problem definition.  Doesn't seem to be any technical reason why your vehicle wouldn't qualify if it's experiencing the issue.
 
I have offered in many places/forums to email the fix for the ambient lighting with sync ver 3.6.2

While it won't be recorded in your SYNC history it will be applied in your car and work.

ISSUE:

Some 2010-2014 Flex, MKS, MKT, Taurus and 2013-2014 Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engine with an aluminum valve cover may exhibit excessive oil consumption and/or an excessive engine oil smoking condition from the tailpipe at idle during normal engine operating temperatures.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08.
2.Inspect for oil in the crankcase vent oil separator through the PCV valve opening. Is there presence of liquid oil, more than a slight vapor?
  a.No – this article does not apply refer to WSM, Section 303-00 for excessive engine oil consumption.
  b.Yes – proceed to Step 3.
3.Replace the right hand valve cover, refer to WSM, Section 303-01.
4.Replace the crankcase vent oil separator, refer to WSM, Section 303-08.
5.Drive the vehicle at normal operating temperature for 20 minutes at constant highway speed to remove oil residue from the catalytic converter.

ISSUE:

Some 2009-2014 Escape, 2009-2011 Mariner, 2010-2014 Fusion, 2010-2011 Milan, 2012-2014 Edge/Explorer, and 2013-2014 Taurus/MKT/MKZ vehicles built on or before 10/14/2013 and equipped with a 6F35 automatic transmission may exhibit a fluid leak from the left hand (LH) transmission halfshaft seal due to wear on the transmission case bushing.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

2013-2014 Escape/2010-2014 Fusion/2010-2011 Milan/2012-2014 Edge/Explorer/2013-2014 Taurus/MKT/MKZ
1.Remove the LH halfshaft. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.
2.Inspect the halfshaft journal surface finish. (Figure 1)

  a.If the journal does not any have metal transfer from the bushing, the halfshaft can be reused. Use the service kit that contains only the bushing and seal.
  b.If the journal surface finish has metal transfer from the bushing, replace the front halfshaft. Refer to WSM, Section 205-04.
    i.The replacement bushing with the red Teflon® coating on the inside diameter of the bushing allows for the reuse of the original halfshaft if the halfshaft journal does not have any metal transfer from the original bushing.
3.Replace the transmission case bushing. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.

2009-2012 Escape/2009-2011 Mariner
1.Remove the LH halfshaft. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
2.Inspect the halfshaft journal surface finish. (Figure 1)
  a.If the journal surface does not any have metal transfer from the bushing, the constant velocity (CV) joint can be reused. Use the service kit that contains only the bushing and seal.
  b.If journal surface finish has metal transfer from the bushing, replace the inner CV joint housing. Refer to WSM, Section 205-04.
3.Replace the transmission case bushing. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.

ADAPTIVE DRIVE MALFUNCTION MESSAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WITH POSSIBLE DTCS C110D AND/OR C110C – BUILT ON OR BEFORE 5/4/2015

ISSUE:

Some 2013-2015 MKT and MKS vehicles built on or before 5/4/2015 may exhibit an Adaptive Drive Malfunction message in the instrument cluster with possible diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C110D and/or C110C.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Raise vehicle on a hoist, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-02.
2.Remove the front right and front left side wheel and tire per the WSM, Section 204-04.
3.Disconnect connector C1668 on the left front strut assembly and C1669 on the right front strut assembly.
4.Remove the tape and plastic convolute around the take out to connector C1668 and C1669 and the main wire harness, approximately 5.0 cm (2.0″) in each direction from the take out. (Figures 1 and 2)

5.Inspect for wire damage to the main harness for any broken or exposed copper under the wire insulation.
6.Isolate any chafed/corroded wiring and replace connector (main harness 14290 side only) C1668 and C1669 with a new pigtail connector. Refer to the wiring repair kit instructions included in the pigtail kit. (Figure 1 and 2)
7.Wrap the main harness wiring 5.0 cm (2″) in both directions from the take out and wrap the entire wiring of the new pigtail connectors with Coroplast™ electrical wire harness tape or equivalent. (Figure 1 and 2) a.Normal electrical tape does not have the anti-abrasion properties required to protect the wiring.
8.Replace the original convolute and cover with standard electrical tape.
9.Reconnect connectors C1668 and C1669. a.For MKT make sure the connector take out is routed behind the main wiring harness. (Figure 1)
10.Reinstall the right and left wheel and tire per WSM, Section 204-04.
11.Lower the vehicle.
12.Retrieve and clear any DTCs.

ISSUE:

Some 2013-2014 Taurus and Explorer Police Interceptor vehicles may exhibit a concern of erratic operation of the climate control blower motor and the inability to communicate with the heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) module over the network during repair diagnosis.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Explorer
1.Remove the left front seat. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10.
2.Remove the B-pillar trim panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05.
3.Pull back enough of the floor covering material to expose electrical connector C3403 containing a jumper plug/cap. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 152-1.
4.Cut the individual circuits close to the connector leaving as much of the original circuit length as possible. Remove C3403 from the vehicle wiring harness.
5.Using the solder splicing method join the same colored circuits together, eliminating the connector and jumper plug/cap. Use heat shrink tubing to complete the repair. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1.
6.Reverse the procedure to reassemble the vehicle.

Taurus
1.Remove the left front seat. Refer to WSM, Section 501-10.
2.Remove the front scuff plate trim panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05.
3.Pull back enough of the floor covering material to expose electrical connector C3379 containing a jumper plug/cap. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 152-1.
4.Cut the individual circuits close to the connector leaving as much of the original circuit length as possible. Remove C3379 from the vehicle wiring harness.
5.Using the solder splicing method join the same colored circuits together eliminating the connector and jumper plug/cap. Use heat shrink tubing to complete the repair. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1.
6.Reverse the procedure to reassemble the vehicle.

ISSUE:

Some 2011-2015 Explorer vehicles may exhibit an exhaust odor in the vehicle with the auxiliary climate control system on. Customers may indicate the odor smells like sulfur.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Reprogram the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) module to the latest calibration using IDS release 91.02 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. a.When reprogramming the HVAC, IDS will have additional questions that require a yes response to reprogram the module.
2.Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-19.
3.Replace the left side rear air extractor. (Figure 1)

4.Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to WSM, Section 501-19. a.Apply masking tape around the outer edge of the rear fender mouldings to protect the vehicle from damage.
5.Open the liftgate and inspect for the presence of drain valves in the two (2) drain holes on the left and right side of the liftgate. Are the drain valves present? (Figure 2)
  a.Yes – no further action is required. Repair is complete.
  b.No – proceed to Step 6.
6.Install a new drain valve in each of the two (2) drain holes on the left and right side of the liftgate. (Figure 2)

7.Raise the vehicle on hoist. Refer to WSM, Section 100-02.
8.Lower and support the rear section of the exhaust system.
9.Clean the areas on the underside of the vehicle where the seam sealer will be applied. (Figures 3-5)

10.Cover the exhaust system and auxiliary climate control drain.
11.Apply a generous amount of Motorcraft® Seam Sealer to rear horizontal sheet metal lap joints on left and right sides of the vehicle, and the rear sheet metal overlap flange across the rear of the vehicle. (Figures 3-5)
12.Spray a generous amount of 3M™ Rubberized Undercoating around the auxiliary air conditioning lines and seam sealer areas. (Figure 6)

ISSUE:

Some vehicles equipped with the Easy Fuel™ Capless Fuel System may exhibit a concern where a fuel nozzle cannot be inserted and/or removed. This concern may be caused by a problem with the fuel station nozzle. The sleeve at the tip of the spout may be missing, not allowing the nozzle to be inserted, or could be loose/gapped not allowing the nozzle to be removed once inserted.

ACTION:

Follow the service procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Provide the customer with the customer information sheet. (Figure 2)
2.Identify the customer concern.
  a.For fuel nozzle insertion concerns, proceed to Step 3.
  b.For fuel nozzle removal concerns, proceed to Step 5.
3.Verify normal system operation by attempting to insert the Easy Fuel™ funnel supplied with the vehicle into the fuel tank filler pipe. a.The funnel is typically located near the spare tire or jacking tools. Refer to the Owner’s Guide for funnel location as required.

4.Does the Easy Fuel funnel insert normally?
  a.Yes – the system is operating normally. This article does not apply.
  b.No – replace the fuel tank filler pipe. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-01. Repair is complete.

5.Is the fuel station nozzle still stuck in the fuel tank filler pipe? 
  a.Yes – Remove the single hex head set screw at the base of spout near the handle cover. Twist and pull the nozzle handle to separate from the spout. Once the fuel nozzle handle is separated from the spout, the fuel tank filler pipe can be replaced. Refer to WSM, Section 310-01. (Figure 1)

  b.No – inspect the fuel tank filler pipe for physical damage or for the nozzle sleeve remaining inside the capless device.

6.Is the nozzle sleeve visible in the fuel tank filler pipe, or is the fuel filler pipe damaged?
  a.Yes – replace the fuel tank filler pipe. Refer to WSM, Section 310-01. Repair is complete.
  b.No – the system is operating normally. No further service is required.

This article supersedes TSB 14-0032 to update the Service Labor Time Standards.

ISSUE:

Some 2013-2014 Explorer, Taurus and MKS vehicles equipped with all wheel drive (AWD) and built on or before 12/11/2013 may exhibit power transfer unit (PTU) fluid leaking. This concern may be due to a PTU vent hose which is missing or disconnected.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-02.
2.Is the PTU equipped with a jiggle cap style vent assembly?
  a.Yes – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 308-07 for normal diagnostics.
  b.No – proceed to step 3.
3.Is the PTU vent hose missing or disconnected?
  a.Yes – install a new hose.
    i.Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) engine. (Figure 1)

    ii.Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engines. (Figure 2)

  b.No – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 308-07 for normal diagnostics.
4.Clean fluid residue from the vehicle by applying Motorcraft® Metal Brake Parts Cleaner or equivalent on a rag and wiping the area clean. a.Use caution not to introduce brake cleaner into the PTU fluid.
5.Fill the PTU to specifications. Refer to WSM, Section 308-07 for correct procedure.

This article supersedes TSB 13-5-14 to update the vehicle model years, Issue Statement and Part List.

ISSUE:

Some 2011-2015 Explorer, Taurus, 2011-2014 Flex, MKT and MKS vehicles may exhibit a noise that could be described as ting, pop or click noise from the front wheel area when accelerating from a stop, on turns or when shifting between drive/reverse and/or reverse/drive.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure Steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.Separate the halfshaft from the wheel hub. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 205-04. a.Do not remove the halfshafts from the transmission or power transfer unit (PTU).
2.Install one (1) thrust washer, metal surface first, over the halfshaft splines until the metal ring is flat against the wheel bearing mating surface. The nylon surface should face outward toward the hub/splines. (Figures 1 and 2)

3.Install the halfshaft to wheel hub. Refer to WSM, Section 205-04.
