Cracked turbo cast iron ?? Exhaust side

Got my upgraded CHRA's in and all completely assembled and ready to go. Just noticed this...

Should I replace this section ? I'll have to buy a used turbo to get that part

Oh boy ... that does NOT look good.

What ever that cast section is in there is really weak. Not like normal cast iron. I may have cracked it tapping it with a plastic mallet to get the cast iron seated on the CHRA section.

hmm defective run on those parts?  or superheated and cooled to fast?

JB weld and some ductape it be good as new.

That was fairly common on the older WRX IHI turbos...I would replace

Stinks you have to buy the whole turbo to get those hot sides of the turbos !

Hopefully I can sell this turbo stuff maybe even just cores ?!?!

I have no idea how it happened. I think they are weak casts. When tapping and scratching it with my fingernail its like paper in there, not like normal tough cast iron.
