Delay and hanging in gear

The other morning I was driving and the car stayed in 3rd gear at 3k rpm until it completely let off the throttle and then started shifting normally. I couldnt find any articled for it staying in gear for a prolonged time. The car has 83k on it. I will probably get the fluids changed this weekend or so. Anybody experience this? Any recommendations?

I also had a delat yesterday when I went to pass and smashed the gas. The car did absolutely nothing. It was about 3 seconds when it started to downshift and pull. Im going to go to Ford where my friend works and have him update all the software in the vehicle.

The pedal max wont be a solution in this situation.  That is for overcoming the delay installed by OEM progamming of the ETC.

Your first instict to renew the fluids (trans/ptu/rdu at minimum) is a good one, followed by spark plug replacement.  Plug replacement, besides giving you fresh firestarters, also gives you insight into the engine, to see if there is a deeper problem at hand.

Do you log your SHO at all?  Is it stock or tuned?

Was the car cold, or had you already warmed up? In super cold weather here (single digit temps), sometimes my rpms climb and hang while things are still getting moving. Also the trans takes much longer to warm than the engine.

I have not experienced the downshifting delay you mention. Hopefully you're not trying to hit passing gear before fully warmed up (because kaboom).

+2 on  changing out your fluids for high quality synthetics and checking/changing your plugs.

Its 100% stock at the moment. I did look into plugs since its about that time. I just purchased and exhaust and plan on a tune soon. Probably in the spring time. Im assuming a tune improves throttle response?

It was at operating temp. Drove for about 20 mins on my way home from work, part city part highway. It was single digit temps here when it happened as well. I always let it warm up before I floor it. I work in the engine bearing group that makes the bearings for Ford. They dont like cold temps. You have a high risk of spinning them when cold due to the coated bearings installed.

Was the trans at operating temp?  Over 100F at least?  The engine reaches operating temp much quicker than the trans, is why I am asking.

I would think so with me letting it warm up and then driving it for 20 or more minutes. Without a temp gauge Im not 100% sure but based on the time I would say yes.

It's a tad warmer here today (20F) but I will time my trans warmup to 100 on my way home from work. I have about 10 miles of stop and go and about 12 miles of steady state (no shifting) driving.

I have a suspicion, even with 20 minutes of driving, unless you were "banging the gears" so to speak, the trans probably stayed pretty cool. I am at work currently, so I can not post any logs from when I drove around in the frigid temps we had to get steady state fueling worked out. However, it takes a LOOOONG time for the trans to warm up to 100, and even then it is still pretty dang cool. Ideally you would want 130 deg or so.

When I left work, dash read 20degF ambient, trans temp read 30F (SCT X4)

It took 16:24 (mm:ss) to reach 100F, and I JUST hit 130F pulling into my driveway after 33:42 (22 miles).

In single digit temps, you may not even hit 100F on a 20 min drive, especially if a lot of it is highway.
