Did Ford forget something on my car?

Changed the oil for the first time yesterday and got some much needed under hood time to get situated with the new ride.

After I took the cosmetic cover off I noticed my MAP sensor only had 1 of 2 screws holding it down.  Immediately I'm thinking previous owner modded it and forgot or lost one of the screws and figured because it had a cover no one would notice.  So I remove the 1 screw and have one same pitch/size.  Then try to put the second screw in and it won't go.  I remove the sensor and holy crap....

ONLY ONE threaded area!?  How cheap can you get.  So its a sensor designed with two securing points only utilizing one.

Did someone forget to tap a hole in mine? or are they all like this?

My 14, brand new, also has one screw. Few pics online I have seen point to the same. So i am assuming it's standard. I wouldn't worry as it's held in tight.

(2010 -Dec 2009 build ,job 2 car)
I believe they changed the design late 2010/early 2011 builds. Maybe someone with a 2011 can confirm.

I had a brand new 13 NON PP for ten days before trading it in for my current 13 PP SHO which was purchased brand new with 2 miles on the OD,and am certain that both cars have one screw that hold down that map sensor on top of the manifold.  Z

Mine is a 2010, built 2/12/2010, #5824 of 7114 made in 2010, I have two screws on the MAP.
So either sometime later in 2010, or, it is a 2011+ change.

The change occurred in 2013my.

FMC's bean counters began mettling with profit margins while attempting to reduce costs.

Using a simple guide pin, then just one fastener to secure it, apparently was cheaper then using two fasteners, times 'x' amount of units sold.

Mine has 1 too.

Ford saved $3.99 in parts and $4,000 in labor just in this thread alone by removing that one screw!!

Damn, I guess I should fell blessed then that Ford put 5 lug nuts on the car instead of 4 and leaving one off.

At least the SHO Engine bay comes with a engine cover and a bottom belly cover which many cars do not have.  Z

For what it is worth, my 2010 has 2 torx screws.  For you guys with only one, look at the bright side....it would take you less time to change the sensor!

IMO they could have kept that heat trap (aka engine cover) also.  A little elbow grease one or twice a year and the engine stays nice and clean.

  I think they put it on for two reasons.  #1, quiet down the knocky-ness of the engine, #2, Its a damn ugly engine.  I'd want to cover it too.
