Did your Tune prices go up?

I bought tunes last year for $250, I finally got an email back today about buying the 4+ and Meth tune, and they are saying $400?

Tuner is unmarried, last year I payed them $250 and told them my strategy code, and he emailed me tunes. I asked for the same thing when I was debating on which tuner to keep, and he told me today $400.

Maybe the reselling and reuse of the tuning devices (I would too BTW) is diminishing their profits when inflation and increasing overhead are becoming a problem....  just saying, Who knows?

Yea, I basically sent them an email stating Im only interested in 2 tunes.

#1) 4+ with 93octane, Rear 02s turned off.

#2) Stage 5 Meth, 3bar Map, with 93 Octane, 170 Thermostat, Rear 02s off.

Thats all I cared about.

I was debating on selling my SCT, or selling my MyCal. My thought was, if it was $250, I could sell my SCT for about $200, and it wouldnt be much more to run the MyCal 4+ tune for awhile, until if/when I decided to go Meth. Supposedly the MyCal stage 4 holds boost until redline better, and shifts better, so I felt even if I stayed Stage 4+ and didnt go Meth, it would only be an extra $50 out of pocket after selling my SCT. At $400, and on the fence about running Meth. Pretty much sealed the deal on selling the MyCal tuner.

Is he quoting you for a tuner plus tunes? maybe he misread your question/ request.

His reply, and I quote "The separate tune purchase for the ecoboost vehicles would be $400 if not purchasing a tuner and tune files at the same time.  You can reach me at 313-561-5500 ext 103"

Mid/Early 2013 I paid $250 and got 4 tunes....

I actually got 8 now that I think about it, the first set didnt have the rear 02s turned off. So I emailed him back, he fixed the tunes, and sent them back to me. lol

damn, thats a lot. if you already have the SCT witch i believe you posted you did, unleashed is half the price. Not sure if thats what you are looking for thou.

It does appear that LMS tunes only have went up. But you already them, correct? I Know why and what you getting at, you have the tuner listed for sale on here. And I am sure others want to know how tune are for it, now I am sure if you are already a customer of LMS and your going from SCT to MyCAL there would probably little to no charge. Based on my own experience, but a 1st time customer is a different story. And then I can see where LMS is coming from, not saying I agree with there motives. It kinda kills resales though.

I was asking for myself. I sent them the email last week and they just now replied. I was debating on keeping it for myself.

I already have my sct tuned obviously by them and told him that. And said I'd like to upgrade to the mycal and just needed 2 tunes for it. He quoted me $400

Heres the plan of events:
Bought a SCT, ordered Tunes from Livernois for $250
6 months later I still want more power, start looking into Meth.
Little time goes by and a used MyCal pops up on here for sale, and I buy it.
Rough winter happens, bought other toys, not sure ill ever get around to Meth, so I debate on even buying tunes, or just sell the SCT and just run the 4+ tune on the MyCal. (im thinking MyCal tunes are $250, and I could sell the SCT for about $200, so its basically $50 out of pocket to upgrade to 4+)
Little more time goes by, pretty sure I wont ever run Meth, but I go ahead and send an email to Livernois to double check pricing on the 2 tunes Id want, Stage 4+ on my current setup, and Stage 5 if I ever do it.
Little time goes by, decide to just sell the MyCal tuner, and about that same time I get a response from Livernois, he explains if you didn't buy the MyCal directly from them, the 2 tune files will cost me $400
That pretty much put the nail in the coffin. Im not going to pay $400 to go from Stage 4, to Stage 4+, since Im pretty sure ill never do Meth.

Even if somebody buys my MyCal for $300, and spends $400 on Livernois tunes, its still $100 cheaper than their current "sale" price of $800(normally a grand I think), so im not worried about it.
