Do I have to use a funnel to add octane boost?

Every other car I have owned I just pour octane boost in the tank, and no worries. With the SHO it goes straight to the gas station parking lot. Why is this? I feel kinda special even asking this, but most bottle octane boost is meant to be poured right in, correct?

It has entirely to do with the capless fueling system.

Check under your carpeted trunk piece that covers your spare....

There should be a white colored plastic nozzle attachment that inserts into the gas tank nozzle, it is essentially a funnel, but adapted to work on your SHO.

You then can pour w/e it is your little heart desires into the that funnel, & it'll go directly into your tank, rather then onto the ground.

Good luck!

I don't have a spare.

I have an awesome little air compressor with green goo.

I would stay away from the otc boosters if possible.
So this raises a debate I'm not sure we've had on this board.  I do know that a lot of octane boosters are junk, but have read that Torco Accelerator is the real deal.  Does anyone have first hand experience?

Thanks

Yeah octane boosters are a rip off. And are very miss leading, while they may increase your octane rating. They do it 2-3 tenth's at a time. Yes poor in bottle to your 91 octane gas and oh boy you got 91.2 octane!
I've never tried torco before I know a friend that used there centane booster in his truck he said its good stuff.
I've had good results making my own with toluene, but it's expensive!

Am I suppose to put the green goo in my gas tank if I get a flat?

I used to use Torco in my 2003 Cobra.  It allowed me to run a higher timing tune and squeeze out an additional 20-30hp or so.  I'd mix it to where I would end up running 102 octane using the torco chart for 91 octane.  Basically use an entire 32oz bottle with about half a tank of fuel left.  I bought some Torco in bulk and I still have 5 bottles left (I sold the cobra to buy this MKS ecoboost).

I will probably only add the Torco to my MKS whenever I take it to the track or when I feel I will be extra pedal happy on a particular tank of fuel.  I still need to install my methanol kit into the MKS...which will make Torco essentially moot.

But yes, I have used it plenty and it is good stuff :)

I meant that the spare tire and funnel together are meant for a hidden purpose other than the stated emergency use.

Transporting weed, coke, heroin, or other illegal substances?

Naughty boy :nono:

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger as I made the same mistake.  Dumped a whole bottle on the garage foor.  Really pissed me off.  Due to the capless filler there is a small release inside the hole which is triggered by the factory funnel or pump filler.  Not exactly what I would call an improvement on gas filling technology...  :)

It was necessarily an improvement in technology of you will, but Ford was touting it as more of an environmental improvement.

By eliminating the use of actual, separate caps, Ford was putting it out there that they saved blah blah blah in the production of the caps, all the fuel and stuff to run the machines that produced them, and in the long run, saved space in the land fills by going "capless".

I think what FMC was really secretly proud of, was their cost savings of w/e it was, per unit, to have those on 'x' amount of vehicles.

Even at a cost of let's say .25 per cap, across the entire Eco-line of vehicles, if they sold 500,000 total vehicles, that's a cost savings in caps alone of: $125,000.

Go figure. Leave it to the penny pinchers.

Realistically, I'm sure those caps cost more than .25, but just tossed that number out there for example purposes.

Not that I really care, but I also think that running without a gas cap (in a car that needs gas caps) would release ??? greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. I know as part of smog checks in Kalifornia, they check to see if you have a gas cap.

No.

The green goo is the sealant for a flat tyre.

I think it's genius, we have a mini compressor LOL.
