Dodge Charger Scat / 392 vs my SHO (12.4 in the 1/4)

I ran my SHO at the track yesterday (DA of 1916, track air temp was 70F but the track was heating up) with my latest tune. The manifold temp was 160F or higher. I still have the stock airbox, stock exhaust, stock everything even 30k mile worn out RS-As. I only added the 3-bar MAP, colder plugs, and a colder t-stat (but feel they aren't needed). Ran 12.4 @ 110 all day long with 1.8 60', all day long with variations in hundredths/tenths of a second/MPH.

I ran up against a brand new Dodge Charger Scat/392. The SHO launches like a bullet off the line and through the 1/8 mile, but past that, the Charger hauls serious ass and blew past me right at the 1/4 mile line. We ended up finishing within 0.041 seconds but he claimed that his best ET of the day was 12.6

I looked up magazine tests, and they rated the Charger 392/Scat as 12.4 @ 115 mph with 0-60 in 4.1 and a top speed of 175 mph which is fairly bad ass for a car that's priced slightly more than the SHO but you get a sweet sounding OHV V8 (not as nice sounding as the 13-14 Coyote GT that was smoked by the SHO).

I think with the Charger, throwing on wider stickier tires, and some exhaust and intake mods would make a great daily driver until you run into snow. I hate swapping to snow tires in SE MI because we can count the number of snow days on one hand that require snow tires. The rest of the 6 months of winter is mainly cold, slush, salt, or icy patches.

decided you were right about a nice dd so went the challenger scat pack route. just got past the 500 mile break-in they recommend. my sho is just a 13 sec sho, so not the fastest out there. took the scat out to mexico for a quick test. no mods are nothing, no launch control, bicycles around & let her shift at her own & it still turned a 12.9, so with launch & better shift points know shes a 12.5 car or a little better & their active sound is nothing short of beautiful. nice popping when let off gas & all. love my sho as she gets the garage but the sp is nice.

I really couldn't hear the Charger though, I could only tell he was next to me via the mirror. The Scat is definitely a nice ride!

I miss those AWD launches. 12.40's is impressive, great job.

I ran a 12.45@113.04 on 2.007 60' last fall.  That was my first pass ever and on the crappy Goodyear RSA2's.

Challengers are lighter than the Chargers and this guy cracked into the 11's with drag radials.

I have a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32's which are a performance winter tire and used them this past winter.  They are very impressive and absolutely destroys the RSA2's in the winter, even in cold and wet pavement.

Great run man!

There are few cars in my budget range I would consider parting with my SHO for, but a Super Bee/Scat Pack charger would be one of them if I didn't like AWD so much.  Perhaps in a couple years....

challengers and chargers are the new mustang everywhere you look everyone has them...... kinda takes the fun out of hot roding when you can just go buy a done car!!! and now just lease one. Ive always been a person to make a car my own.... What part of SE Michigan you from?

These poop pack Fiats may be strong on the top end but how often do you actually get to use it?

Until we have an autobahn I'd much rather have the gobs of torque and grip the SHO provides where the majority of driving occurs.

On top of that I can enjoy my car pretty much all year long unless the conditions get real bad and when that happens I will still be passing the RWD fiats stranded on the side of the road.

IDK where metro has his IAT2 compensations set but at 160 you can bet the car was probably pulling some spark. I'd like to see that race again with better conditions.

Great run Metro!

Thanks! I haven't found any spark adders/pullers for IAT2, just for IAT (I dunno if this implies IAT is IAT2). I normally see about 60F over ambient for IAT2 when road tuning in the winter (ambient of 0F-30F). At the track, 80F-90F over ambient is normal for my car and the 70F ambient on Sunday did not help things very much. My ECU wasn't pulling any timing, and was adding up to about 1.5 degrees at WOT. I think it was mainly because of the E30 blend I was running. My fuel pressure was also a rock solid 2000-2100+ psi for the entire duration.

Mmkay...seriously?  You just spent your time justifying why you think your car...a car everyone in this thread has is better than the "Poop Pack".

I'd laugh if any one of you had an emblem made like, or even those nifty battery tie downs with that verbiage, and applied it to your car(s).
