So a catted setup will smell worse than a non catted?
I bow to 4Dr's experience... so I expect no odor.

I will be able to give an educated opinion after I get them on my ride... We'll be dynoing so they will be incidentally tested for odor then.  I just don't personally know about the Magnaflow free flow cats that PPE is using as far as odor. ...

BUT... I do want to exhaust mod and the bolt-on WHP without emissions problems.. odor be damned!  Many (and I)  do notice an odor after spirited driving with stock cats.  So no odor is nice, but moot for me.

All moot to me , no worry about smell issues.  OK has no emissions testing  so I'll be ordering non catted PPE DP's  from 4DR and an SCT with Tunes from Torrie first week of March when My SHO comes home from the Body Shop.

To help you all answer the questions raised by the thread title ...
Timetables moved up a bit thanks to Paul at PPE and Jeremy at Black Market Racing.  Going to PPE at 10 am today (We'd) and then to BMR.  By the end of the day we should have dyno and under hood temp readings for stock, no catted, and thermal coated catted downpipes.

I will also do pics of all the on and off work with the pipes and try to get vids with sound for you to compare

I have the catted versions non thermal coated now installed for about a month & have not noticed any smell issues & no engine codes. Cats look to be about the same size as the factory ones only a lot better looking as are the pipes themselves. The factory cast iron ones with their smashed in sections look down right ugly compare the PPE's high quality ones. We have emissions testing here & mine is in June but my guy is convinced that they will easily. pass. I just got my factory ones cooling their heels in my basement just in cases. I have no tune, but my crude test track out near a friend of mines farm. What I noticed is I normally launched @ around 2250 rpm, as my tach only has that line on it, & got small wheel spin. I had to reduce it to 2000 to get same wheel spin. My guy think that the downers take advantage of the cai & cat backs to get the increase in HP. As I said before am very low tech, so not sure what this means as for as hp gain.

They do add a little HP (probably around 15hp with your setup). As for Wheel spin when launching... I'd say it has more to do with your tires ; )

steve:
you're probably right about the tires. i was just using the wheel spin as a comparison of before & after the downers. The factory goodyears are worn of all places down the middle. tires have never been over inflated. my guy thinks somehow where too wide for the wheel. anyway as soon as weather gets nicer am replacing the 19's with 20's custom wheels with conti DWS tires & by the way love your new sport especially like the explorer logo on front with white color & the wheels, but we should start a pot on how long it will stay white & not some wild color like your SHO!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm betting that you won't be able to resist the urge.
