Engine mounts

I could have swore I recently saw a post with a picture of an after market mount, but I'm unable to find it now. I was just under the car doing the oil and PTU, I noticed how flimsy they seem, just folded steel. I swear my rear one is slightly twisted, which would not surprise me considering how much torque is involved at this point. Anyone else notice a twist in the rear mount? I assume they are meant to handle forces from front to rear and not necessarily a twisting motion which would explain how they are built. I've seen very little discussion on the topic, in some of my past cars its a big deal to have them replaced as it can aid in traction and shifting. I guess we have not found many shortcomings in the stock mounts on the 3.5?

Just sticking my head in to see if anything develops with this thread.

I keep complaining that the whole front of my car feels disconnected.  Every time I go over a speed bump it feels like the front subframe is going to fall out.  Besides the motor mounts, I'd be in for stiffer front subframe mounts if it's something possible.  Guess I'm just used to cars that are more performance and less comfort oriented.

Scott, we may not be the typical MKS owners.  LOL

I have no clue about the MKS aftermarket but I bet that if you lack other options you can look at a couple things the Fusion community has done:

  • Filled stock mount with liquid glass or other hard "poly-like" substance
  • Cross referenced stiffer stock mounts that fit the space. For example the FoST mount which appears to be cast or billet aluminum will hold things more firm without transmitting much to the cabin and only a small amount of machine work is required, for the Fusion at least.
The fill is a no-brainer, and I would bet you can cross-reference a part from a few different options.

Anything from the same platform with the same or similar power-train options should have a part that crosses.

No doubt, just ask the SS I crushed the other day. It may have been a mount from another Ecoboost vehical I saw posted. I will have to snap a shot of my mount, it has a twist, but I don't hear or feel anything related to it. The front mount looks fine.

I think the mount you saw was for a fusion or a focus st. I remember seeing it also.
I thought about using window weld to fill the front lower motor strut but decided not to. That was quite awhile ago. I figured someone would've came out already with a replacement.
