Ford Explorer Hubs Recall!

September 16, 2017 — Ford is recalling 630 wheel hub bearing assemblies sold by Ford Component Sales to aftermarket parts resellers Timken and SKF.

The wheel hub bearing assemblies were shipped between March 6, 2017, and March 23, 2017, as replacements for certain 2011-2017 Ford Explorer front-wheel-drive SUVs. However, the assemblies aren't compatible for the rear wheel hubs of front-wheel-drive Explorers.

The hubs of drive axles rely on halfshaft retaining nuts to secure the bearings while the non-drive axle hubs have self-retention features, so missing halfshaft retaining nuts will cause loose hubs, and dangerous hubs. A driver will likely hear a grinding or rubbing noise from the brake rotor noise, or experience wheel wobbling while driving.  Z

The wheel goes round and round ... or does it?  One fiasco after another, sad :(
True indeed! I had my eye set on a 17 XSPORT with 8k off the sticker price which was nice. Dunno.
The New Fusion seems pretty nice car for the  $! $! $. Z  :-\

If you really want the vehicle, don't be deterred, that's my motto.  Walk into the deal with your eyes open, and ask for a selling price to accommodate anticipated future inconveniences.  They don't want to give it to you, meh, walk away.  Probably a very good time to not let emotions dictate actions :)
