"Scott Makowski, chief engineer for Ford’s large inline four-cylinder engines, said rapid improvements in engine technology led to the demise of the current 2.0, which has the highest production of Ford’s EcoBoost engine family.

"The new 2.0 shares almost no parts with the current engine. It will deliver a better combination of fuel economy and power, Makowski said."

"The new 2.0 will be available with all-wheel drive, which was not offered with the current 2.0."

real surprising. i have a '13 2.0L escape fwd & she is very quick, gas mileage around town 19.5. did a recent 400mile road trip & was almost 28. & no real recalls like they had with the 1.6. makes me wonder!

Interesting info! Thanks for posting. Hope this doesn't impact the long term ability to keep the current 2.0 running.
