FORD RECALLS ESCAPE, FIESTA ST, FUSION
March 30, 2017 — Ford is recalling 230,000 1.6-liter GTDI vehicles because they could catch on fire under the hoods, something that has occurred at least 29 times.

Recalled are 2014 Ford Escape, 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta ST, 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and 2013-2015 Ford Transit Connect vehicles that can overheat due to a lack of antifreeze.

FORD DOOR LATCH RECALL FOR FIESTA, FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ
March 30, 2017 — Ford door latch problems have caused another recall, this time for about 211,000 model year 2014 Ford Fiesta, 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ vehicles.

March 29, 2017 — The 2017 Ford Edge is recalled because about 111 SUVs may have been built without welds in the windshield header portions of the sheet metal.

Ford issues two recalls for two separate problems in 7 Escapes and Police Interceptors.

2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle

Ford says four model year 2017 Police Interceptor Utility vehicles are recalled to repair second-row seat attachment studs on seats with missing inboard attachments that may not hold occupants in a crash.

Ford doesn't know of any crashes or injuries related to the vehicles that were built in Chicago on January 20, 2017.

Dealers are contacting owners to schedule appointments.

2016 Ford Escape

In a separate recall, Ford is recalling three model year 2016 Ford Escapes to replace driver-side knee airbag modules. The automaker says the airbag cushions can inflate improperly due to a lack of inflator gas generant. The airbag may fill partially, but it won't do much to protect a driver in a crash.

Ford says the three 2016 Ford Escape SUVs were built on December 18, 2015, and the automaker hasn't received any reports of crashes or injuries.

The three Ford dealerships that sold the Escapes will contact owners. Z

  FORD FUSION LOOSE STEERING WHEEL BOLTS INVESTIGATED

October 27, 2017 — Ford Fusion steering wheels that come loose or completely detach due to potential loose bolts will get examined during an investigation opened by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The feds will research 2014-2016 Ford Fusion cars after reports of steering wheels falling off or coming loose due to bolts that lose torque.

The subject bolts are used to attach the steering wheels to the Fusion steering columns, but a few drivers say mechanics had to re-tighten the bolts to keep the steering wheels attached to the cars.

The Georgia driver of a 2015 Ford Fusion said they were turning into a gas station when the steering wheel detached and fell into their lap, and a Wisconsin 2014 Fusion driver said the steering wheel came loose while driving.

Additionally, the driver of a 2016 Fusion complained the steering wheel came loose and after a trip to the mechanic, the driver learned the bolt holding the steering wheel to the column had loosened.  Z  :black_eye:

November 25, 2017 — A 2010 Ford Fusion power steering assist fault recall may be near as the government investigates more than 2,200 complaints and 1,720 warranty claims about Fusion cars losing power steering assist while driving.

About 263,000 model year 2010 Ford Fusions are affected by the upgraded investigation that wasopened in September 2016 because owners said they kept receiving power steering assist fault warnings as drivers were left with manual .

Fusion drivers complain about losing power steering assist at both low and high speeds, causing an alleged 13 crashes and five injuries.

BRAKE FLUID LEAKS CAUSE FORD ESCAPE AND LINCOLN MKC

Ford recalls 92 Escapes and Lincoln MKCs because hoses can wear down and leak brake!  Z

FEBRUARY 14, 2018 — About 92 Ford Escapes and Lincoln MKCs are recalled after the automaker discovered brake fluid may leak from the model year 2018 vehicles.
The wrong brake jounce hoses were used on the front of the vehicles and can interfere with nearby components during routine driving. The hoses will wear out prematurely and leak brake fluid, causing drivers more effort to stop the vehicles.

The recalled vehicles were built in October 2017 and so far no reports of crashes or injuries have been reported.

Other than four vehicles in Canada, the remaining are in the U.S. and need their front brake jounce hoses replaced.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't released information and Ford didn't say when the recall will begin.

Ford and Lincoln owners who have concerns should call 866-436-7332.

FORD FOCUS AND FUSION RECALLED FOR CLUTCH PROBLEMSFord says 5,900 cars have clutch pressure plates that can cause transmission fluid leaks and fires..

MARCH 14, 2018 — Ford is recalling about 5,900 Focus and Fusion cars that could possibly catch on fire because of problems with the clutch pressure plates.

The recalled 2013-2016 Ford Focus cars are equipped with 1-liter Fox GTDI engines and B6 manual transmissions, and the recalled 2013-2015 Ford Fusion cars have 1.6-liter Sigma GTDI engines and B6 manual transmissions.

Ford says the clutch pressure plates can fracture due to the clutch linings wearing out prematurely. The premature wear and tear can cause the pressure plate material to wear down, allowing a large amount of heat and energy to cause cracks around the outer edges of the plates.

The risk of fires comes from leaking transmission fluid that could hit an ignition source in the engine compartments. However, Ford says it hasn't received any reports of fires or crashes related to the clutch plates.

FORD RECALLS 27 EDGE, FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ VEHICLES!
Ford expands 2017 torque converter recall for vehicles with 2-liter engines and 6F35 transmissions.  Z  :o

JUNE 13, 2018 — Ford is expanding a 2017 recall to include another 27 model year 2018 Ford Edge, Fusion and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles to replace the torque converters.

Ford issued the first recall in July 2017 for more than 6,000 vehicles equipped with 2-liter engines and 6F35 transmissions. Incorrect welded studs could detach and cause the torque converters to lose connections with the engine flexplates.

The power steering, power brakes and electrical functions will continue to work, but the vehicles will lose propulsion.

The addition of the 27 vehicles brings the total to 5,352 recalled vehicles in the U.S., 699 in Canada and 12 in Mexico.

Ford didn't mention when the recall will begin, but dealers plan on replacing the torque converters in the 27 vehicles.

FORD RECALLS 550,000 ESCAPES AND FUSIONS FOR ROLLAWAY DANGERSFord Escape and Fusion gear shifter cables could detach from the transmissions without warning.  Z

JULY 18, 2018 — Ford is recalling about 550,000 Fusion cars and Escape SUVs capable of rolling away because of detached gear shifter cable bushings.

Ford says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the detached bushings, but owners have complained about moving the shifters to PARK only to learn the transmissions were in another gear state.  Z

The 2013-2016 Ford Fusions and 2013-2014 Ford Escapes could fool drivers into believing the vehicles are in PARK when they aren't.

Ford says the bushing is used to attach the shifter cable to the transmission, but once detached the gear selector can show one thing while the transmission is in another thing.

SSM 47471 – 2017-2018 Escape/Fusion/Fusion Hybrid/F-150/Raptor – Inoperative Remote Commands From The FordPass Mobile Phone App

Some 2017-2018 Fusion/Fusion HEV, 2017 Escape and 2017 F-150/Raptor equipped with a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) may exhibit inoperative remote features via FordPass Mobile app, incomplete user authorization and/or accessory protocol interface module (APIM) DTC U0198 with no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed.

To correct this condition, perform any open TCU field service actions (FSAs).

If U0198 DTC still remains, remove the TCU fuse for 5 minutes then reinstall prior to programming.

Reprogram the TCU using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS)release 110.05 or higher. An internet connection is required.

Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com.

For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.

FORD RECALLS EDGE, FLEX, LINCOLN MKX AND LINCOLN MKT
Ford recalls 87 vehicles with power supply cables that could cause electrical arcs and fires.  Z  :o

SEPTEMBER 7, 2018 — Ford is recalling 87 vehicles to fix problems that could cause fires. The 2018 Ford Edge, 2018 Lincoln MKX, 2019 Ford Flex and 2019 Lincoln MKT vehicles have power supply cables that may not have been properly secured.

The cables are at the starters and alternators and the unsecured connections could cause electrical arcs. Those arcs could easily start fires.

The Ford recall is expected to begin September 17, 2018, when dealers will verify the cables are secured.

FORD FOCUS CANISTER PURGE VALVE RECALL ISSUED

Ford says CPV problems can cause stalled engines, drivability problems and wrong gas gauges.  Z

OCTOBER 24, 2018 — A Ford Focus canister purge valve recall has been issued for nearly 1.3 million cars in the U.S. after complaints about stalled engines.

The 2012-2018 Ford Focus cars are equipped with 2-liter GDI or GTDI engines with canister purge valves (CPVs) that can malfunction and cause too much vacuum in the fuel vapor management systems.

The automaker says in addition to canister purge valves sticking open, the powertrain contol module software won't detect the stuck-open CPVs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) contacted Ford in May 2018 following complaints from 2012-2014 Focus owners. Ford investigated and found problems with the canister purge valves that caused illuminated warning lights, incorrect fuel gauges, deformed fuel tanks, stalled engines and drivability issues.

The 2-liter Focus GDI cars were built before April 13, 2017, and the 2-liter GTDI vehicles were manufactured prior to February 2, 2018.

Ford is advising Focus drivers to maintain at least a 1/2 tank of gas until the cars are repaired by dealers. The company also says it's unaware of any crash or injury reports caused by the valves.

According to the automaker, updated powertrain control module software will give a driver an illuminated warning light indicating a stuck-open canister purge valve. This will allegedly prevent damage to the fuel tank.

In addition to updating the powertrain software, Ford dealers will check for diagnostic trouble codes and replace the canister purge valves and possibly replace the fuel delivery modules, fuel tanks and carbon canisters.

The Ford Focus recall is expected to begin December 10, 2018. Focus drivers may call the automaker at 866-436-7332.

FORD RECALLS FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ VEHICLES
About 215 vehicles have passenger airbags that may fail to deploy correctly in a crash.  Z

NOVEMBER 5, 2018 — Ford is recalling more than 200 model year 2010 Ford Fusion and 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles to fix problems that may cause the passenger airbags to fail.

The automaker says a bracket that holds the airbag inflator to the airbag module housing can deform and allow gas to leak during a crash.

The passenger airbag may inflate but only partially, likely not enough to protect a passenger in a crash.

According to Ford, the company isn't aware of any crashes or injuries related to the airbag issues.

The 2010 Ford Fusions were built between February 26, 2010, and June 21, 2010, and the 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZs were manufactured from March 10, 2009, through July 16, 2012.

Ford dealers will replace the passenger airbag modules, but Ford didn't say when the recall will begin.

FORD FUSION GEAR SHIFT RECALL EXPANDED
Ford recalls 273,000 model year 2013-2016 Fusions after property damage and injury reports. Z

MAY 15, 2019 — A Ford Fusion gear shift recall has been issued for about 273,000 cars to fix transmission cable and gear shift lever problems, with more than 259,000 of the model year 2013-2016 Fusions recalled in the U.S.

The cars are equipped with 2.5-liter engines and gear shift cable bushings that attach the shift cables to the transmissions. According to information from Ford, the bushings can degrade and cause the cables to detach from the transmissions.

The problem will cause the gear shift indicator to fool a driver into believing the Fusion is in one gear (or PARK), while the transmission may be in a different gear.

A detached shift cable will allow the driver to move the shift lever to PARK and remove the ignition key even though the Fusion isn't in PARK, creating the perfect rollaway condition.

FORD FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ RECALLED FOR SEAT BELT-RELATED PROBLEMS
Ford recalls 108,400 vehicles after someone was injured by a seat belt cable failure. Z

AUGUST 15, 2019 — A Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ recall has been issued for 108,400 vehicles because the seat belt assemblies may fail.

The 2015 Ford Fusion and 2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles have seat belt anchor pretensioners could degrade the strength of the cable to the point occupants wouldn't be restrained.

This may occur on both front seat belt anchor pretensioners due to heat generated when the pretensioners activate.

So far Ford believes one injury is related to the defect, a problem that can allegedly be fixed by applying a coating to protect the cables when the pretensioners deploy.

The automaker says 103,374 vehicles are affected in the U.S., about 4,000 vehicles are recalled in Canada and Mexico is home to about 1,023 affected Fusion and MKZ vehicles.

The 2015 Ford Fusions were built between August 1, 2014, to January 30, 2015, and the 2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles were manufactured from August 1, 2014, to November 21, 2014.
