Getting a transmission service at Ford

Has anyone done it? They are charging me $160 is this about right? Friend stated his shop would do it for $100 but I decided to go with Ford since I have the extended CPO warranty (atleast until they start asking questions about mods, the car is tuned with dps right now but they did not ask any questions when I did the powersteering recall but it only had dps with stock tune). Also they recommended this service, my car is at 64k miles as of right now does this sound about right? (Figured might as well since its tuned and shifts hard)

Buy the Mercon LV yourself  (about  $7 p/quart @ the dealer) & do it yourself.

You'll need about 5, maybe 6qts. to be safe as that's all you get out of it when you drain it.

15min of your time & $40 some odd dollars in fluids, & you come out way ahead.

I agree with BPD, do it yourself. It's very easy to do.

The dealer quoted me about the same price, and said it only required 5 quarts on the work order...

So I bought 18 quarts at 5.60/QT and did 4 drain and fills to get a more complete change in fluids.

Dang wish i saw u response earlier guys. I paid 175 bucks with tax and it was a bg transmission service, not sure if its any different. The sad thing is it shifts just the same no difference... i was wanting this on cars service record incase god know what. I think i am done doing that tho they are expensive, they charged me 105 for parts alone.

A BG service is a nice step up from regular trans service.  Worth the expense, I'd think.  Now, if you are still experiencing hard shifting:
A) have you had Torrie lower shift pressures?
B) might have a valve body issue, or maybe something else.  Check the TSB list to see if anything fits ...

I am not having any shifting issues. It was just preventative maintenance that was recommended by the service shop since the car has 64k miles. I already had Torrie lower the shift pressure on the 1st to 2nd gear shift as I had the "wheelhop/spin" issue. Looks like the also replaced the filter even tho the service adviser stated its just a flush, probably had no idea what he is talking about. After driving it a bit more yesterday I can tell it shifts a bit smoother even tho it shifted just fine before.

Good to hear!  I wish they could have replaced the "filter" for that price ;)

They did replace the filter, there is a part number for the filter and also for the synthetic fluid, bg products according to my receipt.

Can you post the part number and/or a copy of the receipt (if you don't mind), I'd be curious to see what they did.  TIA.

Yes I will post a picture for you as soon as I get to it in another hour. (I am at work and its in the car)

Well, sometimes they add an external filter to the lines.  Have seen them on power steering, so trans is not out of the question.

Or they just screwed me and probably many other people. Unless I am mistaken on what the part# was for, should be posting it shortly. I hope we caught these fuckers trying to scam me so I can go yell at them.

There is no serviceable filter.

It's internal & not accessible unless the entire Trans is disassembled.

Well he told me it would take them 1.5 hours to do the transmission service and the recall for 2 door handles... I dropped the car off at 8am and he called me at 12:21pm that its done. So who knows what they did with it. I guess it would be nice if they dropped the transmission but I doubt they did that.

Trans service typically takes 20 to 30 min tops.

I too had door handle recall service performed, & took less than 30min.

So I wouldn't base the total time the car was at the dealer as a basis for work (allegedly) performed.

I'd love for them to show you (or anyone else for that matter) the filter swap.

Haha.
