Ghost member ready for introduction

Hows it going everyone? I have been a member and lurker here for a few years and wanted to introduce myself formally. My name is Andrew and I live in West Michigan. I have owned several vehicles in past including three with the 3.5 EB powertrain - when I originally joined I owned a 2010 MKS "Red S" in White Platinum. Then I traded that in on a sweet lease deal for a 2016 Explorer Sport in Shadow Black. I was never really able to get comfortable in the Explorer so I was able to get out of that lease and bought a used 3.7 MKZ. The naturally aspirated V6 was a drag and the interior wasn't very comfortable for me. This past weekend I got back into my beloved 3.5 EB / D3 platform with a CPO 2015 Bronze Fire SHO.

This SHO is extraordinarily clean and was a great deal. It has the 401a package with nav and a moon roof. I like cars with basic options if possible and don't want options like moon roof/lane keep/adaptive cruise/park assist blah blah blah. The MKS and MKZ came with those features and I rarely used them. My X Sport had BLIS nav and bucket seats and that was it. Really thankful to be back in a 3.5 vehicle again and can't wait to tune it and wrap the chrome.

Welcome, great choice in color.

Prepare to be amazed at the variety of hues BFM takes on in different lighting.

PP or non?

Welcome, Andrew, and thank you for speaking up :D  All 3 are beautiful rides, glad you found THE one, though.  And yeah, that BFM is WHOA!!!

Love that Bronze Fire color.

Welcome back to the EB fold.

Welcome to the EBPF Andrew and super excited to have you on board, due appreciate the official intro! cheers. Z

FoMoCoSHO - much appreciated. I fell in love with this color when my mom took delivery of her 15 EB Edge Sport. It looks sinister with the rich BFM exterior paired with the dark matte grey wheels and belt line trim. It is non PP. In my ~2 month search, I was only ever able to find a handful of BFM 15's. The PP would have been fine with me, but I did not come across any. Love your BFM SHO as well.

SHOdded - thank you much. When I parted ways with my MKS a few years back, I almost cried. It had the flagship sienna brown leather package paired with black door panels and headliner... the painted abs plastic rockers and lower fascias was truly a perfect spec. I added the Niche wheels and then traded it in a short time later and regretted it since. Very glad to be back into the SHO which is reminiscent of my favorite vehicle, with a few refined touches.

bpd1151 - thanks so much

ZSHO - thanks for the warm welcome

Welcome!  I'm in Kalamazoo myself, what part of WM are you in?  We have a ton of good car meet ups all around WM.

Thanks donky - I am in Grand Rapids. Near the SE side of the city bordering Kentwood. Have you ever been to C&C at the Downtown Market in GR? That always draws an awesome crowd with some unique vehicles.

Welcome aboard!  That's a cool list of cars, by the way.  I'm curious, what do you mean by MKS "Red S".  I'm driving a 2014 MKS so now I'm curious of course, lol.

I have not been yet, I may try to hit the one this Friday if it doesn't rain.

Thanks Agent. The "Red S" package was officially called the EcoBoost Appearance Package, I believe. It featured a smoked grill, tinted headlights, trunk spoiler with chrome accent, chrome delete on the trunk panel, unique black or brown perforated leather, silver faux carbon fiber accents, 3.5 EcoBoost engine, and unique badging across the whole car.

The "red S" badge was featured on the deck lid, the illuminated door sills, and on the dash board. The best feature of the package in my opinion was the body colored painted ABS plastic fascias and side rockers. This package was available in five metallic colors (white, silver, black, red, bordeaux reserve) from 2010 - 2012. I like to think of it as the package that helped to usher in the Black Label program with more unique looking vehicles with less chrome and unique touches like leather and paint.

Welcome EcoAbe!  Love the progression over a short period of time.  All are nice rides!

Of course, I'm partial to the MKS.  Would kill for the painted rockers and fascia.  Mine look OK'ish until it rains and the 303 streaks. :(  No way to color match my car.  Maybe I need to consider painting them gloss black.

Thanks so much. If you're planning to paint gloss black, from how I understand it, the body shop will have to sand prep and prime your rockers and fascias the same way as if they were to spray the vehicle body color. Did that bully you into painting them body color instead of black?? Lol - I am thinking about having mine painted Bronze Fire. We will see what the future holds.

I would paint them body color if they could get a match.  Just really doubtful they could since the car doesn't match from the factory.  My bumpers and plastic trim pieces are already a different color than the metal parts.  Wouldn't want to add a third color to the mix.  LOL

There's another Crystal Champagne Metallic Tri-Coat MKS in my same small town.  Looks just like mine.  Ford/Lincoln should probably stick to more basic or dark colors if they are this bad at paint matching.

Maybe I will just plasti-dip them black.  That's what I did with the center of my trunk lid since it was a horrible mis-match from the factory.

Ah yes the infamous paint mismatching. Both of my bumpers were horribly matched to the metal components of the vehicle. I always wondered why that was... but I saw it on all tri-coat painted MKS

Gotcha on the red s. I'm assuming that was only for the 2010-2012 models and not available for the 2013+

Correct. Limited limited production from 2010-2012. They are unicorns. It is a treat to see one, especially when one of my neighbors has a black 2012 model and I see my old white 2010 driving around the downtown area. Whoever bought it from the dealer is taking really good care of it which I am thankful for.
