As some of you may know, I recently ordered a Reische 4D thermostat (170 degree).

I am currently waiting on the car to cool down in order to install the stat.

Pictures of the stat can be found below.

Ill update once its installed.

I have no clue, TBH.  The box says 3D on the outside (handwritten) but did not come with an instruction sheet.  I would assume it is a 4D, especially since the NA and EB versions of the 3.5 use the same stock/OEM thermostat.

That is odd about the box, though as you can see from my pictures, mine did not come in a Reische specific box, though it did have computer printed labeling with 4D on it.

Got it installed,

For anyone looking to do this, I suggest taking the advice of the forum and waiting atleast 12 hours/overnight to allow ample time for ALL of the coolant to drain back enough so that you lose only the half cup to 3/4 cup stored at the actual thermostat housing/behind the stat.

I only waited about 6.5 hours, and still had a decent amount of coolant in the line going to the housing. Due to trying to postition it out of the way, I managed to kink the line and lose about 2 cups worth of coolant.

As such, I had to add some coolant (I had a gallon on hand just in case), and since I had the concentrate tried my best to get a 50/50 mix. However, on the last two small top offs of the burping process, I just added straight distilled water. so the mix will be close to 50/50 but a bit closer to 45/55 as it gets hot here in the summer, and does not get drastically cold in winter.

Since my parents live in florida and the car will see a decent amount of time there, as well as its next drag strip test and tune, this will help a bit as well.

So far I am loving the stat. I have not changed the tune for it yet (AJP will send one when he gets the chance, I sprung it on him last minute), but even with the tune not changed, the car runs cooler, and I did not see a coolant temperature above 190 at all.

Overall I give the Reische part a 5 star rating, which will probably become 6 or 7 star once im tuned for it. Installation I would say is a 2/10 in difficulty, as it is super easy to do, but the burping process/potential to make a mess if you don't wait long enough is a bit of a pain.

Glad to hear everything went smooth and without a hitch besides some coolant loss which is totally expected  Z  :thumb:

Yup, one of the easiest mods I've ever done. Only easier mods I can think of are 3 bar MAP and loading a tune.

Thanks for the help along the way as well.
