Ford GT's are a little out of my price range. Check that, they're wayyyy out of my price range. :-)

A stock mustang is like a woman with clothes on....not really good for anything
They are great for getting smoked by tuned SHO's

Yeah they make me feel like im chinese and i want to eat me a horse meat snack...i eat em up and feelings are hurt

I'd say it's all about traction.  From a dig, my fox body would have to play catch up with my un-tuned, stock MKS.  I'm sure that, with some killer help, my MKS will then be able to hold it off for quite awhile.

That being said, horsepower to weight ratio becomes an issue at higher speeds.  My fox body dyno'd at 532 whp and weighs 3150 lbs.  There's no way for ANY heavy modern car to hang with it at speed unless it puts down a LOT more HP.

The crazy thing is that my fox body isn't even fast by today's standards.

I've never owned a stock Mustang for more than a few days though.  The aftermarket and potential is just insane!

Let's try to not have this deteriorate into a "X" vs. "Y" debate, that would be immature (and makes no sense, apples and oranges).

All I can say is this is the 10th Mustang I've owned over the last few decades. I used to race them, so it's all good.

PEACE

And you guys smoking Mustangs must not be racing supercharged  ones......

At stoplights up to 100mph at least, I destroy them too...even at the track
AWD won't even help against a RWD car at the track if the RWD car has the right setup.

Depending on what tire I have on,  I can launch every bit as hard in my Mustang as my MKS.  Hell....I'll take both to the track on the same night and get time slips to compare 60 foot times.  3.73 gear,  slicks,  and a 2 step rev limiter make it pretty darn easy.

The sports cars and muscle cars today are just insane.  Doesn't take much at all to run a 10 second quarter mile.  Funny how many mods it takes Fox bodies and New edges just to hang with the newer Mustangs.

I do like how light all the "old" ones are though.  My 2002 weighs in at just over 3,200lbs.  New cars are heavy!

I'm not a fan of the back of the S550 chassis, but congrats on the new ride!!

I had a 2012 GT before I got the SHO.  The SHO beats the GT as far as creature comforts go, but the GT was faster, both stock and tuned, than my SHO is.

2012 Mustang GT Premium, factory 3.73 gears, Brembo brakes, comfort package, HID package, Boss 302 Laguna Seca 19x9/10 wheels with Pirelli P-Zero rubber 265/35ZR19 & 285/35ZR19.  The only mods I did were a Roush Axle-back and MGW shifter.
Stock 13.05 @ 108 mph (MoKan dragway)
Tuned 12.59 @ 113 mph (MoKan dragway)

2014 Taurus SHO, all options except performance package, only mods were to swap the stock wheels for a set of 2010-2012 20" wheels.
Stock 13.79 @ 101 mph (MoKan Dragway)
Tuned 13.04 @ 106 mph (Hartland Park, Topeka)(I had some driver errors all day, and at least an hour wait between each run, so there's room for improvement here)

My 60's were about the same in each vehicle, but the SHO weighing a good 1000lbs more than the GT really tells the tale here.

Awd is great, but a properly set up rwd is better at the track, slicks, 2step, proper suspension. More abusive on drivetrain though.
