guys with snow performance stage 3

Well Torrie passed  me of fto somone else at unleashed who informed that they aren't willing to do anything on there end. I was hoping they could Atleast call snow and try to smooth a path for me but I guess I'll have to call and bitch some more. The tech literally told me that he had no idea how I could have uninstalled it without screwing myself in the process.

Me and snow are not getting along very well at the moment..

The way it was installed I had 4 wires and 1 vacuum line coming out the back of the controller. It was routed through my dash so I asked if I could just cut the controller cut the harness off and send the controller in to them. They said that was fine. I opened up the controller and removed the vacuum line because obviously I can't just solder that back together. Now they are saying I tampered with it so they won't warranty it. The controller hasn't worked right since day one and I really don't want to pay for a new one. Any advice?
They tell you that in email or phone call? Did you get the name of the person you were dealing with?

This stinks.  What you did seems logical.  It sounds like they just want a reason not to warranty the controller.  Hopefully the last person you spoke to at Unleashed can break this logjam.

Phone call unfortunately. Don't remember his name But he made it somewhat clear that he was the only person in that department. I asked him to let me talk to someone else but he said he was the only person to talk to.. He just kept telling me that there was nothing he could do and got agitated when i said that didn't work for me haha

Yeah I'm hoping torrie can loosen something up for me. I'll definitely think twice before working with snow performance again. I explained what I did to the tech and he seemed to understand that it was the most common sense thing to do. But happily explained that he wouldn't warranty it and that he dosn't build the controllers do he doesn't have any vacuum line to test it. And ovcourse that I tampered with it so the best he could do is sell me one for $235

You reached Unleashed by phone? What was the number?

Nope email. sent an email to Torrie and he must have forwarded to Leslie because that's who responded. I think he thought i was trying to get him to pay for it once i explained that i just wanted a phone call in that direction they seemed to want to help.

Why did you open the unit?..i thought u were supposed to snip everything?....you just need a union for the vac line....opening up an electronic unit is a bad idea

i realize that now haha. i didn't know there was something to "splice" vac lines at the time. it took all of about 2 minutes pulled the screws popped the vac line off the nipple and put the screws back in.

Update:

Snow has stopped answering my emails. Unleashed hasn't heard anything back either.

They still have the controller I sent them and I'm guessing they would like me to pay to ship it back. I'm guessing they just try to ignore their problems and hope they will go away...?

Don't have enough money in the budget to buy a new controller right now so I guess I'll just keep waiting for something to give. I pointed out that I had documented problems with the controller long before I "TAMPERED" with it. But like I said they don't answer emails anymore...

You made a stupid mistake but at the end of the day it is on you not the vendor. I have done stuff that has cost me $$ like this before most of the time from overthinking things.

You opened the controller casing, you are likely going to have to eat it though you might get someone willing to help.

Good luck!

Yeah it just sucks because I don't have the extra cash to eat it at the moment. I mean I have probably 15 emails going back and fourth with problems I've had with the unit and they find a technicality that fucks the warranty over. Id be happier if they ate it haha I mean they did send me a defective product after all..

I have had one pump failure on my Alky Controls setup. That was nearly 3yrs into having owned it, & using it rather heavily.

Used it so much that many who know me, often commented on my developing meth addiction. Lol.

From my conversation with Julio over there, he said that there is a "duty cycle" on the pumps, and that typically, the expected lifespan, is between 2-3 years. It was explained that the Methanol somehow degrades the pump's internals over that time span.

Julio actually suggested that I purchase one (additional) pump that's brand new, then ship him back my old one to have rebuilt.

The rebuilt price I paid was under $100 at the time. I can't imagine it's gone up a whole lot since then.

So to date, I am on my 2nd pump. I have my original now, which was rebuilt, and has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust.

So not bad given I've been on the meth train now for approximately four years.

Maybe try giving Alky Controls a call.

Certainly can't hurt..... (813) 265-1400

Let your opinions speak with your $$$ ... may have been a "mistake" on your part, scoles, but there is NO question, the vendor should have been far more helpful, maybe even meet you halfway.  Not like you did it intentionally.

I have considered trying to offer to pay for half but I can't even get in touch with them at this point. Every time I call their magically on lunch and the secretary takes my number and I never get a call back.

At this point there's no way I'll ever work with these clowns again..

Yeah I don't know what is going on down there. I called in about a defective pump, she told me to email it in. That was Thursday morning last week and I have not heard anything from them. I've already fixed the damn pump myself. The only reason I didn't email them back is because I wanted to know how long it would take for them to get back with me. 3 business days later and nothing, anyone want to start a pool on how long it will take?

Sure, you shouldn't have opened it, but with the documented issues and your explanation of what happened they should be helping you. They can tell whats wrong with that controller and if its something that is clearly unrelated to you opening it then they need to make it right.
