has anyone tried a large single exhaust on a SHO ?

I mean 2 into 1 large diameter pipe after the DP's then split back into 2 for the mufflers towards the back ?

Just wondered if it would have a different sound, and what the performance would be like ?!

I looked under a stock 2014 GTR earlier and it looked like that what they have and those sound soooo nice ! Obviously the engine is quite different..... just curious.

looks like that above.....

I'm pretty sure jimijak did this with mdesign. Not sure how it turned out.
Found the link.

there goes my original idea but I have to say it sounds really good ! Wonder how it would sound with downpipes catted and / or non catted !

do they make the y pipe sections in sizes from 2 x 2.25 into 1 - 3in ?
I might leave my exhaust otherwise stock and just remove the third cat and resonator with a single pipe between the DP and the tailpipes.

If I do an exhaust I will be doin this style of exhaust but with areo turbine mufflers. Problem is that will cost just as much as a corsa. Oh and a single 3 inch electric cutout and ppe cat Down rise

what size does single exhaust piping need to be to be larger than 2 - 2.25 stock pipes ? Seems like no turbo noise from the single exhaust though.

think he spent most of his time on the intake system.. maybe someday he will come back to it

This is the brand of muffler im wanting to do on my SHO if i do an exhaust.

I was thinking about 3 mufflers. 2 2.5" or 3" with the 4 " tip
and either the short or long inline 3 mufler..

Also from listening to the ecoboost pickups the ones with the 3.5" or 4" exhaust seemed to have a different sound to them then the 3"

that F150 sounds good in that video. I wonder how it sounds under acceleration. Since it has one muffler I guess it would sound different on our cars with 2 ?

I'm having second thoughts on this single exhaust idea because I don't see how 1 3in pipe can outflow 2-2.25 in pipes despite the MDesign project saying it had good performance gains ??? maybe from the larger diameter rear piping and straight through mufflers ??
