Hi, I just moved here from Australia, I love Aussie Fords, but since you guys don't have XR8's and Falcon Typhoons I had to look for an American born Ford.
To my delight I discovered the Taurus SHO!
I've owned it for 2 weeks and I love it!

I already want to start modding it, anyone tried the JMS boostmax chip? Thoughts?

nice to meet you all

Hi paokara, welcome to the forum and the USA!

Coming from the land of awesome Aussie Fords that is quite a compliment for the SHO.

I would stay away from the JMS boostfooler and get a proper tune on your new machine.

When you have a chance, please fill out your signature with pertinent details of your new ride and as always...

Welcome to EBPF and USA!

I don't recall anyone here trying the boostmax yet.  Most, including myself, are BIG fans of complete re-programs instead of the "tricking the ECU" type of mods.  You could be our test subject though :)

Jealous of some of the cool stuff you get in Australia!  Hope your keep enjoying the SHO.

Please buy a tune from somebody, anybody...i dont care who...i even reccomend lms lol.....friends dont let friends buy jms boost max or pedal max

Thanks for the welcome,
OK so my next question is - where the heck can i get this thing tuned?

I live near ST Louis if that helps

yeah, aussies have long been spoiled with great Fords, unfortunately they are discontinuing the Falcon altogether after next year.
Sad day for Ford and for Australian cars.
it is the longest running nameplate in ford history (Falcon)

There are two tuning devices available...

1. My Cal - available from only Livernois Motorsports and uses only their tunes
2. SCT Flash -available from multiple vendors and can be used by a dyno shop to tune the vehicle or be tuned remotely via data logging and email.

Users have been very happy with all three options. New to me with this platform, but the dyno method is really not needed unless you go crazy with modifications.  I have two different remote tunes and both are amazing. One is better than the other. wink, wink

The SCT tuners look pretty good! Are they easy to install? Is it something I could do myself?
The JMS boostmax appealed to me 'cause it looked really simple to install etc.

OK Im sold!

Re: Pics haven't taken many yet because my custom plate hasn't arrived yet.

Here's what i have, tomorrow i'll take more since there seems to be a demand xD

Completely agree with AJP here on this.....

Best bang for the buck with this platform, is literally a tune.

Stay away from that JMS Boost Max piece 'o junk. **cringe**.

You got one of the rarer birds so to speak, as it relates to the SHO's and that two-tone "umber" interior I believe it was called. Cool stuff.

Enjoy the SHO, she's a beast in hiding, and will treat you to many years of happiness,  along with plenty 'o miles of smiles and experiences.

Routine, preventive maintenance is key to this platform. Especially the PTU & Trans fluid swaps.

Enjoy. Lots of good peeps here.

P.S. I'm a scant 4hrs North of you, located in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago, IL.

Need anything, lmk.

Welcome to the community!

As painful as I know it was for AJ, he's right. You can ask any owner of the Mustang, Fiesta, Fusion or Focus guys about JMS products. They are the heart of the majority of smaller EB failures. I would not recommend them to anyone, not even AJ! ;-)

You want to make sure that you stick with a tuner that is extensively experienced with the EcoBoost platform as a whole. They are very sensitive to odd things, like plug gap. There are countless threads on all of the EB forums about cars that seemed like they were dying, but only needed new or properly gapped plugs.

The biggest reason to choose our tuning is that we are completely independent. We use our own proprietary tuning software and MyCalibrator device for all our tuning. Having our own proprietary tuning software and hardware means that we have more control over what we can and ultimately will do. Our software allows us to have far more access to your ECU, and because we have more access our tuning files are much larger than most. This only shows that more of us goes into our tuning files VS the competition. We routinely invest in test vehicles both pre and post public release to ensure that we are offering the most responsible aftermarket support in the entire industry. There also is not another aftermarket vendor that has the corporate ties VIA their R&D and skunkworks for the big 3 domestic automakers and their performance divisions.

Tuning is easy! Your tuner will arrive to you completely blank, and ready to read info that will give us your factory calibration. You email that info to us, and we build you your tunes. When they are built we provide you with an app to download to your PC. This app will allow you to connect to our secured remote tuning server. All that you have to do is click "Update Tuner", and that will send us your factory calibration. Once we get that info to our calibration department we will have your custom tuning files ready for you in 24-48 hours. Whenever your tunes are ready to put onto your handheld we will email you letting you know that you can plug your tuner back into your PC and update the tuner again. After that, just load your tune onto your car and have fun!

There are not any negative side effects to responsible modifications, especially tuning. We are making power by making the car as efficient as possible. We have the longest and most successful track record in the EcoBoost platform, and all without a single client vehicle failure. We hang our hat on that achievement!

Here is a short list of some of the things that we have been able to achieve in the Ford category alone since 2009.
In 2009, before anyone had software, we were tuning the Ford Taurus SHO and Lincoln MKS.
In 2011, we were tuning the F-150 EcoBoost before other companies could even flash it.
In 2012, we had tuning support for the 2013 Ford Taurus SHO while other software companies had nothing available for 6-8 months later.
In 2012, we were tuning the Explorer Sport, almost a full year and a half before anyone else.

I love the color of your Taurus!

I have 140000 miles on mine, it's all highway miles though, but it's the reason i could afford it with the budget i was on. Very glad about that.

The original owner really looked after it, i see absolutely no signs of abuse at all.

Although he was a fellow hoon.... I had the VENT TO ATMOSPHERE hack already applied with the chair leg method.

it sounds great

Definitely a call for a celebration and friendship in the works IMO.  Z  :beer2:

I like the idea of a Livernois tune, but the device itself is 600 bucks!
That is twice the JMS (not that i want that chip anymore, but i had my mind set on the 300 mark)

Do i really need to buy one?

Can't someone who has a tuner just download my tune into it and deliver it to my ECU for me? Is that a service anyone provides in the St Louis area?
