hp tuners- come on in

who did you get to tune yours?
did you switch from another company?
why did you switch?
what do you like better?
looking for more info
thanks

I hope I'm wrong- but there's only a few people that use HPT (2 I think), and they are doing it on their own.

I've had great success with HPTuners on my own. I would suggest heading over to the HPTuners forums and asking for help there. Most people here just want to bolt-on, plug-in and forget about it.

did that
they have all the tuning in a guide and all the pid descriptions all odb1 as well
flash time is about twice as quick too

im looking for more tuning feedback but am starting to see why Torrie offers both -besides tuning more than fords.

That is cool what's different from standard and professional? just more vehicle credits?

hptuners is great, they dont have everything unlocked like sct does, but for someone like me who tunes gm vehicles regularly when support became available naturally i had to start messing with my 14 explorer sport. currently at 17lbs of boost an full control of throttle the proper way.

they have more unlocked than sct  does for sho 2016 vehicles- all the descriptions and pids are up to date and available.
the dash set up is fantastic as well- select exactly what you need and where you want it ,in what size- its nice

they dont have a nice scanner/logger like sct x4 though
which is why i think im going n gauge
does any one have experience with the lund??

Lund Racing is renowned in the mustang world, and they do pretty good work. The nGauge is pretty sweet, especially because on the mustangs it allows for flex fuel tuning, I really want to know if the same is true for our platform. If you get one, let us know if that works.

Its basically an aeroforce gauge that can flash tunes which is pretty cool IMO.

There is really no way to tell which tuning software has more tables and scalars and functions available...you would have to have them side by side and every tuning company is guilty of saying they can do things that others cant

Based on some of the things said in the hp tuners forum i would say there are more limitations and items that need exposed with the hp tuners software...many more instances of people hitting limiters that prevent them from achieving the desired result

From what i see hp tuners looks more user friendly but more basic and incomplete and not as daunting for the beginner....whereas sct inundates you with lines of code that will never need changed

I was also a victim of a bad lund tune for my old supercharged mustang which nearly cost me a motor...he told me i was grasping at straws which was insulting...so now i never underestimate the ability for  owners to detect car behavior

ive just heard sct is more ford friendly then hptuners.

I am struggling with this very dilema right now.  Picked up my '13 Sho lastnight, looking to get it tuned.  I already have an HPTuner pro I can buy credits for and then use on my SHO.  But HPT just is dialing in compatibility for the SHO and most of the professional tuners at this point seem to use SCTx4 for the SHO...

Just not sure which way to go with it as I bet long term the HPT will get dialed in and be right on par with SCT for tuning, but that does not help me short term.

I would go with the SCT X4 or the MyCal right now.  The tunes are dialed in, and continue to evolve even more than anticipated.  Doubt you will regret it.

If you have a transverse EcoBoost (like a SHO) HPTuners should be good to go unless Ford changed the ECU for 15-up to match that of the 15-up F-series/Mustang which is different from pre-15 F-series. The guide I wrote up for SHOs should get you started relatively quickly. HPTuners may not have every single setting unlocked but neither does SCT. HPTuners just organizes it better and the VCM Editor and VCM Scanner programs run faster and are organized better. I even switched from SCT to HPtuners for my Mustang GT so that all my vehicles are tuned via HPTuners.

Thanks SHOdd and metroplex!!

I went with a SCT for now.  Keeping the HPTuner though since I already own it and can add credits later if I want to switch.

Shoot me a line if you ever decide to get rid of your HP tuner. I MIGHT be willing to take it off your hands

Even if you use SCT for tuning, the HPTuner comes in handy for datalogging especially on an EcoBoost Ford as it has almost full DMR PIDs instead of just SAE, and VCM Scanner IMHO is just easier and faster to use than Live Link.
