IAT SENSOR

I ordered a few items from Rock auto and had one IAT sensor left,part#DY-1133 for 10.99,so figured let me change, very easy swap and probably easier than doing the 3-bar swap, upon installing drove the vehicle for about ten min and noticed the mpg gauge was changing every min, instead of every five min like before, and found that very intresting, figured at 24k why not change it considering its such an important sensor, will update any more findings.Z  http://engine-codes.com/articles/intake-air-temperature.php

Very interesting, Z!  Do you think they did a design update of some sort to account for the difference?

They look pretty identical, the new part has a manufacturer buld date of 3/14,but something had to be updated like the little transistors, cause been monitoring the mpg gauge lately to see if the summer blend gas is here, and as mentioned before the gauge is updating the mpg every minute, maybe FoMoCoSHO can update us with his 15 SHO on his take.Z

What makes u think iat sensor is related to the mpg gauge activity?..usually mpg calculations come from injector data and load calculations..I really can't see a connection between iat sensor and data monitoring rates......z you really are anal lol...it's not really a serviceable or wear item subject to failure..sure it won't hurt ...you will never see that on a maintanence schedule ever...why stop at the iat sensor?...should be checking all the coolant temp sensors oil temp and pressure sensor accuracy...it's not nearly as important as the map sensor...there are compensations for fuel and spark..think of it as a fine tuning and the map sensor being a coarse adjustment.....all don't forget the trans temp and pressure and fuel temp...there are fuel modifiers for those also...and the ambient air temp sensor...they all contribute....sorry to bust ur balls but u should just enjoy ur car til it gives an adverse symptom...I can relate to taking care of ur car but damn man...

AJP let me make this short and simple, was simply making an analysis on the functionality of the new sensor compared to the old one, nothing more and nothing else, but noooo you want to take it to another level, but listen closely my good friend cause you surely exceeded my limitations and enough with the ,have more important issues than listening to an egomaniac mentality my way or the highway bit and enough of the ,think quite a few people are getting tired of it to say the least, even some members are hesitant to even submit a post because of the backlash you contribute here on this fine forum, and let me not go deeper into details .Z

Come on Z....AJP knows a ton about these cars and since he tunes his own car he gives us lots of info and perspective we can't get anywhere else, including the vendors on here.

He is trying to help you. You ask him to listen but I don't think you are listening either. It is our nature to experience the placebo effect when messing with our cars, we always want them to perform better. Hence why I use SCT, Torque Pro, Dashcommand, and the track to validate whenever I'm playing Mr Wizard with my car.

Not to mention we are on text based forum where there is no context whatsoever.

Anyhoo...

If there was one sensor I was going to preemptively replace on these cars, it would be the wideband

Now as far as the mpg gauge, the 2013 had 30 min, 5 min and instant, well at least until the last flash then the 30 min disappeared.

2015 is same.

Once reset it updates very quickly but it slows down as the tank progresses because it is averaging.

When you replaced the sensor, it may have reset and started over.

"If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all".  Maybe a cliche, but a maxim to be heeded nonetheless. Please edit your posts accordingly guys, I'd appreciate it.  I am all for free speech, to a point  :)

This is a discussion of an observation Z has made, he's not making any claims to its' significance, but curiosity is what drives knowledge forward and it should be respected.  AJ, you brought up a lot of good points that can be mulled upon equally well without the asides.

Thanks in advance.

Z, you are a good dude...Much better than I....Just shrug me off I mean no harm....Sorry...didn't think you would take it so harshly. The lack of tone does hurt sometimes. I think if you heard me you would've taken it differently. I don't really get offended much anymore so I can't relate to those that do...Carry on
