Incoming new product JMS Boost Max.

I will have a test unit here soon but this is actually a neat device. For one it can be used along with custom tuning and give you the ability to adjust boost inside the vehicle on the fly. And it can also be used on its own to allow a completely warranty friendly way of turning the boost up without the need for a programmer or reflashing the vehicle. I have been a JMS dealer for a long time and have access to all of their products.

Torrie for the upgraded turbos would this be a good solution along with a custom tune?
It would be awesome to see if they could come up with a RPM based boost map with it.
I can't read the images you posted so I don't know if that's an option already.

It will be under $300. It modify's the pressure curve that is being commanded through the calibration either up or down. So yes it will work with or without custom tuning. Just depends on the end goal.

Great idea!

I take it, it has fail safes built into it. To prevent someone from cranking it, and over boosting? Or will the Ford ECU shut it down before it comes to that?

Hey Torrie,

Any thoughts on tranny issues?  I am not an expert, but without the firmer shifts when using this stand alone, could their be issues with slippage?  Along with that, any concerns on line pressures at part throttle?  I toasted a tranny in a 96 Z-28 due to an overly oiled K&N, so things like this scare me a bit.  I have to say if this pans out, I REALLY want it :)

Thanks

My exact question....
If you have a custom tune already..
And then you increase the boost..it sounds like a disaster about to happen.. The tune already increases the boost to higher "safe/tested" boost levels and then if you increase it more????
Or I'm just not understanding??

If you read the catalog page provided it states it "compatible with JMS Custom Tunes"....is that accurate? (I would hope it is being from their catalog and all). And does that imply ONLY JMS Tunes?

need more info !

I'd buy one if it will let me keep boost to redline / shift point with my LMS tune, but it seems like LMS scrapped the XV1 tune because they couldn't get the tune to safely hold boost to redline / shift point with out causing issues somewhere else ???

for the most part (except some occasional hesitation) I'm happy with my current tune from a dead stop but I dont see much boost at speed since it bleeds off in the higher revs.

My biggest question exactly BMC... Is it safe? Plus, after reading the catalog pages I wonder if it works with tunes other than JMS?
It would also seem a cinch that you'd likely need hotpipes to prevent turbo leaks at the very least.

Torrie, what can you tell us on these issues?

So I guess I need this explained to me exactly what benefits this gives you when a custom tune is already in play?

If you want transmission tuning as well your best option then would be to go with custom tuning. This device in itself allows you to increase boost.

The ability to adjust boost on the fly in the vehicle.

The calibration will need to be adjusted to use this correctly in the event you have a custom tune already. Otherwise it works safely with the factory calibration.
