Inner tie rod socket size?

Anyone know the correct socket size to remove the inner tie rod on a 2010 mks?  The set i rented from advanced auto came with three socket sizes and, of course, none of them fit.  All are too small.

Anyone know?

The helpful manual only states "appropriate size".  Do you have a new part for reference?

Trust me.. already checked it over.  So frustrating because I already removed everything including the outer tie rod end,  so my alignment is out of whack, just to find out I can't even remove the inner one because I don't have the correct socket. My fault for not checking first, but that's what I get for trusting a universal kit.

Not sure about the part number that's currently on the car, but I'd assume it's the same as the oem part I'm putting on to replace it.

Tie rod sizes that came with this kit were 1-5/16", 1-3/16" and 1-7/16".

I saw that kit from harbor freight, but wanted to make sure it worked before i went out and bought it.  The closest HF is like 30 minutes from here.  And i thought I read somewhere that this kit didn't have the correct size for their Lincoln too when i was searching around last night.  It wasn't on here though.

I did.  Their set only has two pieces and both sizes came with the set you get from autozone.

Dam! It sux!! If you turn rack all the way out to side that's coming off can you grab it with large adjustable.? Or large pliers ? Pipe wrench?
It
is recommend to hold the rack so when loosening you don't force it against other gear inside. LMK thanks .Z

I was thinking about just using a big pipe wrench.  I really prefer not to because of the steering rack and possibly putting extra stress on it when removing.  Also wanted to torque it down to the correct spec when putting the new piece in.  I guess it's just kind of my only option at this point.

Exactly that's why I recommended  the above mentioned procedure knowing that you're options are very limited at the moment.
Also when removing an inner tie rod you need to hold the rack so it does not bind when removing and tightening and outer tire rod.
Best of luck and keep us updated on any progress. Z

Here is a pic of mine and would say its probably the same size.  Z

Inner tie rod is under that plastic boot on left side of that picture.  I had it all apart and ready to be removed, but had nothing to remove the thing with.

That picture looks just like my setup and i'm sure it's the same size.  Problem is, no clue what size socket to put on it.

Ok 99% sure just figured it out.  It's the 1-1/2 tie rod socket.  At least the new part is.  Got to assume the current part that's on the car is too since i'm replacing with OEM.

That size socket wasn't included in the set i rented from advanced auto and it's not included in the set from harbor freight either.  Looks like Lisle sells a master tie rod tool set that included the 1-1/2 socket size.  I'll probably just pick that up.

Thanks for confirming that.  Appreciate it.

I hope you didn't pull that tie rod just for this thread though.

No worries actually was curious myself but IMHO its my pleasure to help out the ecoboost community in any way i can.
I'm hoping the tool you ordered is deep enough to go over the end of the tie rod and hope everything goes smooth without a hitch.  Z

That's some dedication right there, and i definitely do appreciate it, but your car is going to need an alignment now if that was pulled from your car.  I didn't want to put you through all that trouble.  I hope that was just a spare part you got a hold of.

If it was from your car... out of curiousity, what did you use to pull yours?

And I haven't ordered the tool yet.  Probably will a little later today.  They're all deep enough to get over the tie rod, even the smaller sizes, it's just getting them correctly on the thread.  I think I should be good with that master set.  Really would have preferred to rent the tools, but it is what it is.
