installing exhaust today

I am having my friends shop install LME catted downpipes and a magnaflow xpipe today. He just called me and said the opening in the flanges is about half an inch off at the flex pipe end. Is this normal because of the larger diameter pipes? Do they bolt up just fine with no leaks?

I think you should be good, take a look at the pics below which should help, make sure to re-torque those bolts after a couple of hunded of miles. Z

Ok thanks. How long did it take you to install yours?
Due to it being my second set,it was easier and took roughly about 90 min for the DP install,BTW your going to love hearing those turbos spoooool, enjoy. Z

Would love to hear them spool today but the shop called and won't have it ready until tomorrow.

How long has the car been there?did you get a price quote?

It has been there all day. I can't complain too much because he usually does not charge me for labor even though I told him to charge me something for this job since welding is involved.

So after 40 miles the exhaust has started to make this sound like it's vibrating and the two pipes are hitting each other under 8 psi boost Under 40 mph.

I would make sure they used the bolts that came with the DP,and as mentioned earlier and many other posts to re-torque the bolts due to heat expansure, and use some antiseize . Z

My downpipes didn't come with bolts...

Also there's a heat shield on the downpipe closest to the passenger side that I had to bend back a little because it was vibrating against the downpipe. I'd check that too

tell us about the sounds etc once you get it straightened out.

problems has to be the heatshield or something simple.

I think it is something simple. It sounds like a medium pitch humming that only occurs at specific boost and speed levels. The pitch isn't right for me to call it drone but that's kinda the idea I have of it.

Neither did mine.  Haven't had time to install my LMS downpipes yet.  Hopefully new bolts aren't needed

Just recorded a video both under the car and in the car while driving. It isn't as noticeable on the gopro but maybe someone can tell me something.

Not sure I hear exactly what you are are referring to. I hear 2 or 3 different things. I do hear some rattle. Sounds like its not due to engine boost, but rather engine torque as car accelerates. I would check the hangers. If exhaust not attached AND hangers oriented right may cause some rattle.

On the other hand, the other sound Im hearing doesn't completely sound exhaust related. Sounds like something in drivetrain or with BOV. Can you feel anything if holding shifter while accelerating?
