installing exhaust today

I emailed Paul, he stated to loosen bolts and adjust, we haven't ran into this before. If that doesn't work we'll make a new pipe, coat it and send it out.
For now dimple the existing pipe of the bolts being adjusted doesn't work.

No panic yet. We played around with it quite a bit on install day. My mechanic suggested a slight adjustment in that top bend because there's plenty of room to other side. We'll see how they look Thursday. Thanks Mike.

I've got my DP in (LMS catted) and they are rattling in there just a little. What can I do to get it to stop.  I can only hear it when I'm on it at 1/3 or more on the throttle.  It's annoying when it happens. I don't have a lift so I am not sure where they are rattling from yet.

Make sure the bellypan is on nice and tight, as well as the heatshields.  Also possible the nuts/bolts on the downpipe were not fastened enough.

I know my bolts are tight for sure. I was chasing down the exhaust leak and that's good now.  I just have a little rattle now I'm chasing down.

The bolts and belly pan are good.  I'll have to get the car back up to see where it's hitting and causing the rattle.  Any suggestions on how to make it fit better?

I guess you've already contacted LME, but check the heat shield all around. Ford is known for rattles from these being loose or slightly bent. There is a lot of motion due to the huge torque roll in the 3.5GDI. It could be something not directly related to the exhaust/DPs.

It sounds to me that you have used the oem bolts to connect to the midpipe and clearly the LME DP dont come with upgraded bolts correct? because my PPE catted DP came with bigger bolts which gave it a more secure fit, also need to re-torque those bad boys after a while due to the heat expansion, another note would put some grease around the hangers that hold the DP AND EXHAUST,its very hard to track down a rattle that transfers,BTW were you able to get new gaskets X4. BTW after installing two sets of DP and a Corsa exhaust these little thing truely do matter, best of luck and keep us updated and pics below for comparison.  Z  Figured be nice to help out a fellow member with all my available inputs and feedback.  Z

Thanks for that, I bought used, I wonder if PPE will sell me those bolts...

I appreciate all the help guys! Yes I did get my gaskets and that solved my leak.  The flange on the DP was just not perfectly flat. But, the 2 gasket trick solved it.  I'll report back when I learn something new or different.  I did get bolts with mine.  The oem ones shown in the next post don't come out.

Or try Paul Prentiss at PPE in Tempe, AZ if that doesn't work.

I would try to eliminate the exhaust out of the equation, sometimes you can have tiny little rocks lodged between the exhaust pipes which is a fairly common issue and causes a rattle, overall grab a rubber mallet and gently hit the bottom side of the exhaust, small section at a time to check for any noises, also humid weather can play a role in it,or especially a sudden drop in temperature.  Z

I'm a little late on the update. The rattle was the cat touching the car as the engine was under load.  I had to massage the cat some.  I had to tap the cat with a hammer just a little.  Now it's quiet as a mouse again.
