I am going to spend the 75$ and buy a second one and swap it into my rig.  it is a long shot and not likely the issue but it is cheaper than 2000$ in turbos to see if it solves my no-code  overboost that Brad is seeing.

Why not just swap both 3-bar sensors!  to see if there is any noticeable change in overall boost functionality!  Z

I’ve got one you can try. I should be able to ship it pretty cheap.
Just pay shipping it back to me. I’ll ship it to you free.

How's the condition of the gaskets for the 3-Bar map sensors ?  Sometimes the gasket gets brittle and worn out overtime which can potentiate a boost leak!
I would verify, inspect all sensors including the IAT Sensor!  Z

It *looks* ok to me and is less than 6 months old.  But in the face of 2500$.. well a 50$ experiment seems a no brainier since it is involved in managing g boost.  ;)

Your map sensor isn’t making boost rise at the top end...I thought at one point you could buy wastegate actuators aftermarket and they claimed to make power....they didn’t really make power though they just added boost because wastegate duty cycles would need major tuning after that type of hardware change

I think your diaphragms in your wastegate canisters are messed up honestly

If the canister is messed up it won’t push the rod that opens the wastegate  which is how boost is lowered

Well, no joy.  New MAP does not change the overboost behavior.  So I am back to 2000-2500$ in turbo repairs :(.

#$%^....

Yeah..  I was hoping the MAP was damaged somehow but it is not.  Soooo ... yeah I need to get ford to declare the 'turbos' bad to get warranty work or have the engine fail of its own accord which I want to avoid at this point... or... pay the 2000-2500...  bummed.

I would do the ATP turbos if I could do it myself.. but I know my limits.  And there is no-one in town or near town I trust.

Hey AJP! ... had a question .. what kind of  membrane?  call me crazy but a flexible part in a constant oven sounds silly ?  (educate me!)...

I dont recall the exact size, but I do recall it is a security screw, meaning there is a peg in the middle. This requires a special torx bit, that has a hole in the center of the star. I bought the set they sell at autozone, and it had the proper size, plus allowed for it to be used at a 90 degree angle for better torque on the bolt, as the first time it is a pain to remove.

Does anyone know what size torx screwdriver is needed to swap map sensors?
