Killed the tranny

Hi all,
I have killed the transmission on the flex and thinking since it's down I was looking at what upgrades to do to it. I am running a Torrie tune with the firm shifts. it has 70k miles and I have found the weak link in the front CV shafts as I have split that in half. I was running 100+ mph for 80 miles or so I'm sure I over heated it. came to the 1st stop of the interstate and it wouldn't go played with the paddle shifters and got it off the road but now it won't move till I start shifting between 1-2 with the paddles at 3k rpm then it moves couple feet and slams into reverse. so now time to fix another weak link but have no clue with these new transmissions. any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Ashby

What year eb flex?  Sounds like the trans overheated.  Were the ambient temps high, or significant high load situations occurring?  There are no available upgrades as yet for these transmissions.  You might be best off taking it in for expert rebuild.  Might consider a cooling upgrade like with the SHOs.

SHO performance package tranny cooler upgrade should be a pretty simple bolt on. There is a DIY here on the forum.

sorry it's a 2012 EB with titanium package (not sure that has any factory upgrades) yeah was thinking better cooler. don't have anything to check temps as of now, need to get something to track temps.
thanks for the quick replies,
Ashby

Wow!  Would simply running fast for 80 miles in 6th gear overheat the tranny?  We drove across South Dakoka last fall where the limit is 80 MPH and we typically were north of that by 10 or so.  I never saw temps over the high 190s.  Monitoring temps is a good plan but I wonder if overheating was the issue.

Is it the PTU or transmission that is broken?

The trans on my Flex has a small cooler from the factory but doesn't continue to heat up at speed.

There is a small group of parts that can be added as an "upgrade" to the trans...you'd have to join a Facebook page and ask there...ecoboost enthusiasts...Guy on my page just built one a couple months ago

If you have an iPhone you can monitor trans temp and other things including
tire pressure using ForscanLite.

If you want to save cash you can always checkout car-part.com and find a low mileage trans used trans.  I spotted a couple for around 1k.

Found a pic of what some found they could upgrade.
