I was shocked that I had no knock.
Maybe the ecu becomes a tad conservative under those condition and just doesn't get to that point.

I had some pretty bad wheel hop one night and threw a positive 6.5.Larrylu said:BiGMaC said:Larry.... The tranny detective work is awesome! Wish I knew BigMac. In lieu of hard facts I'm making guesses that seem at least to make sense to me. The ECM is very sophisticated and maybe more than the sound of pinging would go into the decision to throw a high KR. Maybe it's considering the interplay of sounds, temps, timing, load, and maybe even gear selection to actually prevent detonation. If gear selection is going screwy as in my case, a tranny sensor error might cause a calculation/value that would command the car to go into a protective mode. Maybe a good way for the car to pull timing is to throw out a high KR number. Always dangerous to be building a case for what and how based on so much assumption. Wish I knew more and was guessing less!
Yea... I get that, kinda does the same thing on easy acceleration... Lugs easy. Makes me use the throttle briskly and then let go...ecoboostsho said:I know on my Grand Prix shifting could cause false knock. You could up the octane and it wouldn't go away (or if it did then it was real). I don't see this on my SHO though. When my knock gauge is reading numbers I usually believe it. That said I still only get appreciable knock at part throttle up a hill - almost never at WOT.
