Latest Torque project.

So I had an old phone I was using as my Torque platform but several if you inspired me to upsize a bit.  I picked up a refurbished ASUS Memo 7HD from Woot (thanks Glock-coma!) To gain a little more screen real estate.

I was trying to figure out how to mount it and decided to make a custom mount out of 18 gauge steel and attach it to the two bolts under the center speaker cover...

Here is the mount I made (I remember someone else doing this but forgot who). I painted it a metallic "hammered" black.

Then I mounted the whole thing in the car. The notch is for the camera.

Here are some of the finished shots. It is completely hands off as it boots to Torque and then starts on the gauge screen. Everything goes to sleep after the car is shutoff so I don't have to worry about battery drain. I attached it with huge pieces of industrial strength Velcro that holds 20 lbs...

How is that USB routed and connected for power?

Are you using tasker to control boot up and shut down, and opening the app?

I'm still not happy with the cable routing but it routes under the dash and up by the start button. I really want to see if I can get it behind the bezel for the radio...

Larry your screen and setup were my major inspiration. :)

I do use tasker but just to set screen timeouts and Wifi/Bluetooth settings if its on power or off. I use Torque settings for everything else. I have the MX so the setting to use low power and shut off the adapter help.

Looks pretty sweet!! I love my asus hd 7.
I have a similar setup. But I'm using a modified phone mount that I installed magnets in so I can remove it easily.

That looks impressive inside the car, been planning to remove and modify sunglass holder by the sunroof and installing it inside the compartment, finally have sometime this long weekend and will try to post some pics.

I just finished my install in the sunglass holder.  This thread was what made me do it.

Check out my thread.
