LMS Stage 4+X Tune = Amazing

SHO-TYM

New member
So I decided to purchase the 3 bar map sensor, 160* thermostat, new motorcraft plugs, and had Anthony @ LMS write me a 4+X tune for my 2011 SHO non PP.  I got all the new parts put in, and started the download of the new tune.... 80%.....90%......99%......100%!!!  I backed out of my driveway to go do a quick test hit (in Mexico) and MAN... what a difference from the stage 4+ I was running before.  I brake boosted up to 2000 rpm and let it fly.... had a tough time grabbing traction through first gear.... THEN came 2nd gear, and all 4 tires let loose again!  What a great feeling.  I only have an 1/8th of a mile track around me, so I will be taking it to see if I can improve my time hopefully within the next week or so.  I am also daily driving with this tune to see if it is a safe, and reliable tune for the streets as well.  One thing I have noticed is even if I am only using 40-50% throttle from a dig, it still chirps 2nd gear.  Kinda cool if you ask me.  I'm sure that will tone down a bit after it "learns" how I drive.  I will also keep an eye on MPG change from the 4+ to the 4+X.  And just to sing the praises of Anthony at LMS.... he has been amazing in his wealth of knowledge of our 3.5L ecoboost motors.  He has taken a lot of time out of his day multiple times, to explain things to me, and discuss future options, and letting me know what power gains I should expect.  He knows the science behind the motors, and knows what make them tick.  If you have any questions about his tunes, feel free to call him.  He will take the time to explain until you understand.  Thank you Anthony.

Wow....I couldn't have said it better myself.  Your experience sounds just like mine.  Yes, the 1-2 shift will calm down but it will still bark the tires if you are giving it much throttle.  Based on the drivability as well as the data from my Aeroforce gauge, I have ZERO concerns as a daily driver tune.

I look forward to seeing your 1/8 time with this tune.

glad to hear someone else has the same thoughts as me.  One Question though, did the sounds of your BOV change at all?  Mine now makes a weird "barking" sound followed by the "PFFFFFT" sound like normal.  I called Anthony, and he said it was due to more PSI being pushed.  I was just curious if you have found the same on yours.  I do have mine vented to atmosphere.  How many pounds are  you seeing with your Aeroforce gauge?

Mine makes that noise with the 4x as does several other members. It seems to be fine...?

I guess it kinda had me nervous at first because it kinda sounds like the air is being restircted on exit.... kinda a squeel, squeek, bark, dying duck.... all the above... but as long as nothing is getting screwed up.... it's all good.

LOL...yes, mine makes a "Whonk" sound when you back off and then the "PFFFFT."  Everyone with this tune has mentioned that.

The car is so dang fast at WOT, it is hard to watch the gauge and drive at the same time!  I am seeing 13.9 PSI and it comes on at low RPM and stays there.  There are no wild spikes - just very sustained.

Regarding the dying duck "whonk" sound, I get that when I back off quickly even after very low boost.  Anthony told me the same thing - that it was caused by higher boost.  However, I am not so sure about the "higher" boost answer.  Any boost at all followed by a quick throttle release gives me the "whonk."

Glad you liked it.  I picked up 0.47 seconds in the quarter going from the 2bar 4+ to the 3bar 4x tune.  I also get the duck sound when I let off.  I have been running it for a few weeks and I love it as a daily driver.  I also saw about 0.8 MPG better with it on a long road trip.  My in town MPG has been about the same.  Just low due to a heavy right foot.

First thing I noticed going from 4+ to V8 with the 3 BAR was BOV noise. Amazed how audible it was from inside car with windows up.
