Lost Tuner

Well I realized today when my parents were taking my SHO back to Texas, my tuner from Livernois is not in my glove box. It's lived there since day I bought my car. I'm now trying to figure out who swiped it. I'm guessing because there's no reason I would take it out. I left it there so if I had an emergency I could tune to stock.

Ugh. Does anyone know if Livernois has stock images? I don't know what to do I this situation.

They do have stock tunes, and they should for you since the strategy code is on file. The question is how to get the stock tune back on without a tuner, but you should talk to LME directly.  Maybe they can "loan" you the tuner for the operation.

You can always go to a good third party mechanic and have them flash car to stock if needed. You won't have to deal with dealer issues or questions IF they come up. Just remember to have your 2 bar sensor to reinstall or car may not start!

If you buy new tuner from LMS, I imagine when they load new tunes on device, they include the stock tune as well. Just flash it yourself. Your only issue is shelving out another $600 for tuner and tunes. Unless they work out a deal with you!

I called them and it was $600--I'm not pleased with that. I'm livid--I called both places my car was, they are asking their "staff"--which is pointless.

Nobody is going to come clean. If anyone even took it. I am still trying to figure out if I took it out but can't fathom why in the world I would.

Yeah, I asked LMS that same thing -- it's useless to anyone who took it.

The last time I used it was about 4 months ago when I detuned for a week and ran my 2bar--I then put the car back.

I still don't know how it would have disappeared. Nobody should have went in my glovebox.

Can't you just go to the dealer and have them install the latest version sw and re-install the 2bar. My dealer is mod friendly, so you may need to find one that installs aftermarket parts without issue.

Good luck finding an independent  with ids software and a valid subscription to motorcraft service to do module programming

I spoke to shops; it won't ever be found--

I've come to conclusion that it is what it is.

The car has ran 60k miles on this tune so I don't think there will be any issues. Just makes me nervous as heck that I don't have my tuner.

Lesson learned: don't leave your tuner in the glovebox LOL. Hide it in the spare tire area.

Dang that sucks...need to make sure mine is still in the glove box!!

On a side note....i like eye for an eye.....perhaps the guy should lose a finger or 2?...that would be enough of a deterrent for me

If you were closer would probably hook you up with IDS software and have you returned back to stock for now, think leaving the car in stock tune might be the best option until your ready to purchase another tuner just to be on the safe side and unfortunetly at 60k is when most issues arise.  Z

Just to throw this out there, I also had a pair of sunglasses in their case go "missing" in my glove box and it turns out that they fell behind the glove box door. You could try reaching behind the glove box (or drop it completely) to see if it fell behind there.

I wish that was it; nothing behind glove box.

I still can't fathom why someone would take it. It's not like they can use it LOL.

I only use my glove box to store my owners manuel, but has anyone tried (locking)there glove box,not sure how secure it is but certainly would of helped somewhat.  Z

The more you say you dont know why anyone would take it, the more reason to believe its right in front of you somewhere. Was there anything else of seeming value in car at time of alledged theft? If so and its not missing odds are you misplaced it.

When I thought someone stole my tuner from my spare tire area, I ended up finding it on bookcase in garage behind water bottles after I had gone shopping.

Point being, its right in front of you somewhere. You may have even dropped it in trash moving stuff around. Or under hood of car inside airraid box. In seat pocket. Under seat etc. Ive done all these before lol.

I also try to avoid these (full service)car washes where there known for the old (five finger discount)at no additional charge, dont think the vacuum could suck it up.  Z

The only place I would trust to return my car to stock is the dealer. If you get another tuner keep it in the trunk where the spare goes.
