Me vs. newer M3

Cruising along at 70-80mph today an newer M3 pulls along side me and downshifts. I drop it to Sport mode and take off. We hit traffic pretty quick so we had to stop but I was winning at that point. I hate to say it but he was starting to pull on me which sucks but you can't win them all. I was loaded down with a full trunk, a lot of gas and two car seats so that sucked as well. This guy definitely had exhaust but not sure on anything else. I ran 12.6 before I finished my exhaust so I'm guessing he might have had some other minor mods done to the car.

Whats up Bill, lookin forward to meeting up with you guys soon, keep me updated,Z. BTW you would of gave that m3 a run for his money if you kept it in drive.Z.

Not with a Torrie tune, Sport mode is max power...

You are absolutely wrong in the fact thats its related to the tune or any aspect twards the datalogging that affects or gives it more power in sport mode, cause in my book and theory its all about the CORN that contributes to the power, love you man,LOL.

Depending on the year of that M3 I doubt you would really have a chance. At low speeds my SHO is faster than the M6 but above 60 its like the SHO is standing still. If it is the V8 M3 I would be surprised if you won, the brand new inline 6 M3 though there is no chance at the top end. It seems the acceleration on the SHO drops off significantly at high speeds.

I actually owned two BMW 335xi's (the same engine as in the New M3's/M4's). BMW definitely means Bring Money With-you. I had so many problems with the twin turbo charged 335xi, I actually was able to claim lemon on the first one.

With that being stated, with the JuiceBox tuner, it was FAST. BUT With that being stated, big v8s would smoke me in the long run (SRT8 Jeep, 6.0 Supercharged GTO, etc) . I think the i6 twin turbo platform is pretty nice but is plagued with problems. The torque at 1500 RPM is fast, but anything over 80 is lack luster.

I almost bought a N55 335xi m sport. Kinda dissapinted BMW can't be counted on right now. Decided it was better to wait for an E63.

How do you like the SHO compared to the 335?

Its not the same I6 as the 335. It has 425 HP stock and 515 with a tune. I have heard it runs 1/4 in sub 12 stock.

SHO has almost the same features, bigger rims (not wider), rear camera (BMW just had a heat map on the M), and was much nicer on the pocketbook. My MSport new was 56k, vs SHO 42k. The SHO doesn't have adaptive headlights, but it does have auto-high beams. The SHO only has one auto-dimming side mirror vs the BMW both. The BMW doesn't have the sun screen, the cooled seats, heated steering wheel (even with the cold weather package). The "headlight washers" on the BMW were more of a gimmick and during winter used more fluid than a meth kit would for performance.

The BMW is smaller, less trunk space and the extra wide summer tires in the rear are COMPLETELY useless in the snow. I **** myself the first time I had to stop in a light snow. I slid all the way through the intersection!!! Snow tires were a MUST with that car which is a good $250/tire + rims. Plus the low profiles, I got three buldges and had to replace all the tires. The rears were $450 EACH and fronts $350!! Makes my stomach churn.

As for BMW drivability, it was rock solid. You could fully turn off traction control and spin all four tires which was fun. The balance of the car was great and the front rear power split being back biased was key to the car playing nicely off the line. I just got sick after replacing 8 some fuel pumps, fuel rails, etc etc.

I stand corrected, it has the same SETUP but smaller stroke and bigger bore. There is a LOT of commonalities between the other components of the systems such as the same HPFP, and fuel delivery system (which caused all my issues). Only time will tell if the M4's are plagued with the same engine retardation as I had lol

I just sold a 2008 BMW 535xi. After $18k in repairs in 2.5 years it was the worst money pit I have ever owned. It was a nice car but when it broke it was expensive to fix.
