Meth and turbo upgrade questions

Since Meth injection is a really good bang for buck mod, I'm considering snow performance stage 2 using their boost juice. After that I may upgrade my turbos, depending on my cash flow situation. Here are my questions:

1) has anyone actually dyno'd using 100% meth v. 49/51 mix to see how big of a difference in power there is?

2) what boost are you guys getting from stock turbo upgrades?  How about ATP turbo upgrades?

I can answer 2
On the upgraded stock turbos I carried I was seeing 22 psi down to around 18 psi at 6K when I had no boost leaks.
With the ATP turbos I was flat at whatever boost I chose, I did not have any boost fall up top.
BPD Mike just dyno'd at 44XHP at 18PSI with meth and 93 octane on a conservative tune. I'm sure with a bit more timing you could easily get into the upper 400's for HP. I dynod 500HP on 15 psi with E85 and around 24-26 degrees of timing with the ATP turbos.

I saw BPD's post about his latest dyno results. I'm leaning toward the more conservative side like he did. And if I can get 18 to 20 psi on the stock turbo upgrade, I'm having a hard time justifying the ATP turbos if I'm gonna keep them around the same psi.  The chances of me upgrading my turbos at all is slim. And if I do, I will need a setup that keeps me happy but doesn't require adding other things. I would love to run ATP's with 25+ psi, but then I'm running into fueling issues. For my budget and needs, I think meth with stock upgrades at 20ish psi would be the best route.

I'll happilly sell you either just know you'll have to run the upgraded stock turbos to around maximum to hit the power levels at the ATP at 18psi which is barely working the ATP.

Good point. ATP's are more but less likely to go boom at 18 psi v. The stockers maxed out. 

If I do buy I'll definitely go through you. Where do you ship your parts from?  I'm wondering if picking them up is an option to save a couple bucks.

Plus keep this in mind for 20+ psi you will be able to run on pump gas. Also up into this area engine internals are at physical limits.

ATP turbos ship from CA, upgraded stockers ship from Phoenix, I had to drop off and pick up from my supplier.

I'm more worried about the hotter air from a compressor at the edge of it's efficiency map vs one that's right in the middle of it's compressor map.
Lots more to turbos than just PSI, also want to look at temps of outgoing air due to it's efficiency and CFM capabilities of a turbo.
I'd rather buy a turbo that I'm using about 50/60% of it's capability and can ask for more later if I want than to spend $1600 and immediately be at max.

 

[Tuner Boost]

The turbo questions have been answered well here, so I will contribute to the methanol inj.  Ideal, 100% methanol will supply not only the cooling of a 50/50 mix, but it also works as a supplemental fuel delivery allowing greater boost without fear of going lean (if the HPDI pump and injectors reach capacity). This may require a meth system that can work with 100% methanol, and it requires nozzel sizing smaller than the water/meth mix as well as boost controlled activation that is graduated....but is an excellent upgrade. Using 50/50 mix just cools and does not add usable fuel as the water portion negates this.

Also be aware that you can only ingest so much water before it will also cause spark blow-out similar to a too large of plug gap.

On the GM LLT DI v6's, we had to add 100% meth when we exceeded 400 or so at the rear wheels as the LLT fueling would run out around there. The 2012 and up LFX allows us to reach close to 500 w/out issue.

There is one person in the industry I hold in high regard, Julieo from Alky Control that has several white papers to read about all of this explained in detail like I do on PCV systems for those wanting to research more.
