Might finally be time to worry about the transmission

I've never had it on 3-4 shifts - though I'm not sure I have the nerve to still be running WOT at those speeds :). Your other option would be to ask them to return the pressures to "near stock." That has to help, though might not completely cure it. Tell ANTHONY that another guy on the Internet just got the tune you want - he will remember me.

Shod - funny you ask. BG trans flush in the morning - though they insisted on using BG fluid. I at least confirmed it will be LV certified.

I have Redline on my tool bench for the PTU and the RDU. Will be doing that myself next week.

Dont believe Redline makes 80w-90 for the RDU,only 75-90 IMO & would confirm prior to install.  Z

Yea, I'm willing to live on the edge there. Redline is top shelf stuff.  The viscosity difference is negligible.  Is there concern?

Redline 75w90 should be ok, they include the Ford XY-80W90-QL spec in the list.

The PTU fluid will be more critical anyway.  It is a very harsh environment.

Yep, those are the two weights I bought. I'm a big Amsoil fan for motor oil, but Redline for everything else.  It was Redline I wanted for the trans, but was told no.

Amsoil has low viscosity trans oil specifically for our car and its made with the same , true synthetic base stock group iv oil that the motor oil uses....but you want the signature series trans fluid

No argument on the quality of Amsoil. We are probably splitting hairs in deciding between Amsoil and Redline.

I'm at the shop now - they went out and got the Ford Mercon LV cause they didn't know 100% their BG fluid was compatible.

They did end up confirming it met the LV requirements, so they used BG.

Didn't make a difference on my 1-2 shudder at WOT.  Funny thing, most of the time when you load a new tune, we're told to allow it a few days to adjust pressures back and that shifts will be harder at first.

With the latest "soft shift" tune I got, there was no shudder at first, then it came on later.  Makes me wonder if the computer adjusted up right away since I was getting on it hard.  I might try reloading the tune and driving easy for a couple days and see what that does.

I also asked Livernois if there is anything else they can do.  They had told me previously the pressures were down to about stock already, but we'll see.

When I first loaded the Unleashed tune, it did the same thing.  He put the pressures to stock and it still did it.  He then made one more revision that fixed the issue . . . I just don't know what he did.

John, Livernois had stated on SHOforum that topping off the fluid just a bit above MAX helps prevent cavitation, which MIGHT be leading to the "shudder" issue in your case.  You can ask them about that.

I have the same issue with my 15 SHO with 6k miles on it. I have done the flush as well adding 1pt extra. But still he the 1-2 stutter most of the time. It sometimes feels as if it's wheel hop but I don't see a traction light. Along with that if using the paddle shifters 1-2 sometime skips 2nd gear and free revs.

My mods are in the signature -- just the thermostat, 3-bar, and the tune.

As for the fluid level, based on Livernois' advice, at the BG flush today, I asked the tech to fill the fluid up to the top of the "max" line.  I didn't want it overfilled, but just topped off.  Afterwards, he assured me that he did put it at the top while at operating temperature.  I haven't checked myself, but the guy seemed credible.

I just reloaded the "Softer Shift" V10 tune where shift pressures are supposed to be within 1-2% of stock (per Livernois).  I'm going to drive nice for a couple days and see what that does.  When I loaded that tune before, I went at it hard almost right away, so perhaps the adaptive learning wouldn't let it adjust back down given that was the first thing it got.

Unlikely, but I figured I'd give it a try.  If that doesn't work, I'm left to wonder if the increased power is going to leave me with this characteristic no matter what.  Like I said, Unleashed solved it for me somehow . . .

I still have this issue from time to time and when it happens it is violent. I am not convinced that its the tranny, I suspect something is binding in the awd.

AJP .... Freedom!

My theory: At stock torque management, pressures vary between say .... X and Y depending on what the adaptive learning determines.

When at the upper Y levels, it is fine with stock power. But, with the increased power of a tune, SOME cars have the bind when the threshold is at or near Y. After driving mildly, it goes closer to X and is fine even with the increased power.

Another theory: The adaptive learning slowly changes something MECHANICALLY to adjust pressure. Though I am now at stock torque management in the tune, the mechanics are still adjusted high from the previous tune combined with aggressive driving, and it will take some time for the computer to correct it, e.g. a few days or even a week. Running the car hard in the meantime will slow the process.

Ill try and reply more when im home but for starters you arent getting any torque reduction when running a torrie tune....watch torque source while logging at the shift....LMS no idea as i havent seen a log while logging torque source
