Multi-Contour Seats Going Out?

Wanting to know if anyone else has had their multi-contour seats go out on them.  I've noticed that my seats have started to intermittently stop working.  They sometimes work for the entire trip of the car, they may work for a little bit and stop working, or they may just not work at all.  This is only the lumbar electronics on the seat, I still have seat movement controls as well at heat/cooling functions.  Just can't get the "active motion" to work or manually adjust the lumbar bladders at all.  It seems to be seat independent (the drivers seat may or may not be working while the passenger seat is functioning fine).

Anyone know if these have their own fuse that would only control just the lumbar function on the drivers side?  If so, which fuse number is it.  I'm 6'3" and getting up under the dash to give them all a look at the fuses is not an easy feat so any help would be appreciated.

Im worried about stuff like this going out. Same with the nav screen and the sunroof.

I believe I either have a bad connection or pneumatic pump going out in the seat back.  I did my red-neck diagnostics and noticed that if I bang on the back of the seat back the pump will sometimes start up.  Banging on the seat bottom does nothing.

Does anyone know how to remove the seat cover?

I had both my seats fixed last summer, the passenger seat had inflated the lumbar completely on it's own without any input or even with no one in the seat.  Then, the driver's side started doing it too.  It would inflate periodically without my input, and would inflate completely to full, to the point it was uncomfortable to drive.  The fix took the dealer 2 days to complete since the seats have to be removed from the car.  Good news is that they have worked correctly ever since the fix last summer.

After reading the thread over there, I can tell you that as of last summer there wasn't a TSB about the seats, and I don't know but I believe Ford is aware of the problem, because when my dealer addressed the problem, it only took a few days to get the parts, and then the service manager seemed well versed on the problem. I think he contacted Ford for repair instructions, hence the dealer being able to get the repair parts without the car.  I would contact dealer and depending on your mileage see if you can't get the repair at least partially covered by Ford.

That's exactly what my passenger seat did, in would inflate fully on start-up...not every time but if I deflated it, within a few starts it would inflate again.  Then the driver's seat started doing it.

If your question pertains to the massaging aspect only, IIRC, those do cycle in 20min durations total, before auto shutting off.

You would have to depress the button again to restart the cycle.

In regards to the lumbar bladders, again IIRC.... one would toggle the button up (once) for each individual bladder.

Merely pressing down (or up) repeatedly in either direction, would cycle through from top to bottom.

In other words, down 3 times to start at lowest lumbar, up once for middle, up once more for top bladder.

Then back down one for middle bladder, then down a 2nd time, to activate lowest bladder.

Hope that made sense :dunno:

I know how the operation works.  My system is simply starting to go out.  I was wanting to know if anyone knows how to remove the seat cover to access the system in the seat back.
