new best in the SHO and baseline in the Esport

So Sunday went to State Capital Raceway in Baton Rouge.  Temps much warmer(70's) than I had hoped and didn't buy any ice to cool the intake.

rt .297
60 2.244
1/8 9.48 @ 75.14
1/4 14.603 @ 98.18

3rd run, funny enough ran the G8 on this pass also.  This was a loss though.
rt .094
60 2.215
1/8 9.370 @ 75.87
1/4 14.446 @ 98.82

Explorer pulled decent from the 1/8th on, but is a pig out the hole.  Will be tuning it as a Christmas present, so hopefully can get it into the low 13's.  Also with 50 temps and icing the intake I feel there are a couple of tenths left in both vehicles.

Amazing RT's!  Looks like the Esport has it over the SHO by 0.4 sec or so 'tween 1/8 & 1/4?  Significant.

Shodded: I am not sure I understand your comment. Not to be a jacka.. but The Explorer is slower than his tuned SHO on the 1/8, the 1/4 or between the two... Also, his RTs are not very good beside that 0.06... At least in the world of bracket racing... Anything over 0.100 sec. of RT and you get eaten up... Just saying : )

ok ok, my math was just a teensy bit off :)  I know his RTs are better than mine anyday :D  But yeah, since you live and die by the tenth, even the hundredth, in this situation, improving RT would help.

RT only are considered in bracket racing. But in test and tunes, they are not a factor. So, his 1/4 mile times aren't affected at all.

The last passes for both vehicles were against the same G8GT, so I was actually trying to cut a light.  I knew the Explorer was gonna lose to him, but I wanted him to be worried for atleast a few seconds.

Nice times! What rpm are you launching at? And are your lowering your tire pressure? You should be able to get a 1.8 sec 60'  Also best ET's are made by staging shallow, your just want to creep in and tickle that 2nd staging light.

Nice runs, i'm also in Louisiana and have a silver sport. Do you happen to have a black sport and travel around walker/denham springs often? I've only seen one other sport around my area and it's a black one is why i ask.

The SHO is a nonPP, so it doesn't spin at all.  Tire pressure is 30.  SHO launching around 1800.

Esport no power down low.  Launch RPM was 2200-2300.  I traded a 10 second @ 131mph GT500 in on it....to make the wife happy.

It's Ruby Red.  My wife does drive it to a lot of refineries in S. Louisiana, so you may come across her on the road.

I've drag raced for a considerable amount of years, please explain what icing your intake does for you?

Cools the intake down.  I remove the plastic covering from the intake manifold, and stick a bag of ice on it until it is cold to the touch.  I've used this since I originally got my Lightning, 04 cobra, then on my 09gt500.  On those cars you stick it straight on top of the blower.  With a complete cooldown, temp on lowest mark, and the intake iced usually good for a tenth or two.

Some of the guys at LMS Customer Appreciation Day were doing it last summer.

There is a bit of controversy about effectiveness but there are a couple of devices that will use your air conditioner to cool the manifold/IC... similar to the Chiller Killer thing
