So I just switched all of my computers to Mint Cinnamon Linux. My original plan was to keep the windows partition on my laptop for SCT but manged to screw something up and wiped my windows partition. OOPS! Anywho, I just picked this up it will be used for work and SCT only.

If anyone needs an inexpensive laptop, they have quite a few to choose from.

All refurbs come with a 1 year warranty.

Discount code FREESHIP bags free shipping as well.

I initially added the wrong link. Updated for accuracy.

Sure, you buy the last one, then post the info :D  Sounds like it will work well tho, especially with Linux.

Sorry, the one i ordered is still available, I momentarily tarded out.

Correct link added.

This one will be windows only for SCT.

Should have bought a Lenovo think pad yoga 12! I bought one and use Windows on the main ssd then run Parrot security OS on the M.2 caching slot, on a 64gb ssd.

It's perfect for data logging as you can  fold it flat and let t sit on the seat, it's super light and thin as well. Love this laptop.

This one is convertible as well and much beefier than your girlie "yoga".  ;)

Since it will see work, car, and track duty I wanted something rugged and cheap enough to be disposable. $250 bucks for an i5/ssd/8 gigs is a lot of laptop for the $$$.

I actually had a 1st gen dual core yoga and sent it back. I must've got a bad one cause it was trash.

My primary laptop is a Dell XPS12 running Linux.

Haha don't even! This laptop is perfect for everything you mentioned. The thinkpad line of laptops are water resistant and all the other resistants you would need.

But for $250 that is a pretty good deal for what you get. Even if it is hideous! :)

I think you need at least a 15" screen, 16gb of ram, dedicated graphics, and quad hd for a primary laptop. But I'm a specs whore. ;)

I prefer smaller laptops since mine actually spends most of its time on my lap.

8 gigs/dedicated graphics/1080p/ssd is plenty for what I use a laptop for. Spending extra money would just be wasteful. This thing screams with Linux on it.

I agree but I think the newer integrated solutions are sufficient for most unless they're gaming, pixel peeping, CAD, etc.

Well, that's true, but we are talking to a performance-oriented crowd here ;)  Integrated graphics improve, but so do discrete graphics.
