Hey everyone i won the MDesign intake contest and just put it on. Man this thing looks nice! Quality is great, installation is a breeze. Not as much intake/turbo noise as my K&N typhoon intake i had on the car, but is a sure trade off to get rid of the heat soak. On to the eye candy.

Can you also measure inlet? Height and width?
Last, can you measure the filter size? I'm curious of the theoretical air volume due to it being a sealed system and the restricted inlet from the front fender.
Id say the front is plenty open for air to get in. I just took off the air guide to snap a few pictures of how open and direct the air flow is. The slit in the air guide isnt the only source of air its pretty open under it. You also get direct air flow through the grill going to it. You could possibly trim the plastic behind the grill directly under but it looks like it gets plenty to me. The restriction point would probably be the filter. Also look at all the space it frees up for a meth kit ;]
The setup looks great and thanks for the additional photos! I'm intrigued... given that I am going to be doing a lot of experimenting with my SHO, I may have to do the same! I love the meth kit idea, though I think the nozzle needs to be on the other side of the car... something that a little creating piping could handle

Soooooo it's raining in Wisconsin...
.... and it dawned on me.... While the MDesign is amazing at keeping the heat out, it will equally do a good job of keeping the rain water in. Does it have any thing that allows the water to leave that canister? On a heavy day of rain, I'd be VERY worried of that canister filling up with water and water being ingested into the intake system. While it may take a while, or multiple rains to cause any noticeable effects (due to the water finding its way into the inner cooler), I can only imagine the stagnant water and the air density significantly changing due to the humidity that would create.
Any one thoughts on this????

If it does permit water and cause engine damage, it would be a quick way to end up without a car. It is common for start-up manufacturers to not have product liability insurance.... which would cover the engine damage if there were any... and we all know where that would have to go to get the engine repaired.

Most performance products that I have seen are "at your own risk" and at most will cover refund/replacement of the part in question. Maybe products from the performance division of the vehicle manufacturer will cover more than that, IDK. BTW, isn't the Hellcat intake setup questionable in all-season weather?14SHOCAR said:

The stock bottom intake piece has a 90ish degree bend where the inlet is into the box. The water would hit this and drain down wards in the intake box.
The Mdesign concerns me only because it wouldn't take a whole a lot water to fill up to a level where it would hit the bottom of the canister filter. If the car was on an incline, it would drain into the turbos and game over.
I'd love to hear from MDesign as well.. Again, if we can address these questions it's something I'd be very interested in.

Took my car to the car wash and gave it a good hose down to get off what i hope is the last major salting of the roads up here. Intake stayed dry, stock box dosent have a drain i looked at mine. Talked to MDesign and they have tested it on there vehicle for a year and have driven in rains, hit puddles, and snow ect with no problems. Still will keep an eye on it every few good rains and report back.
