New Tires

After 18000 miles, its time for new tires.

Since I don't have snow where I live, I'm choosing to stick with pure summer tires.

Heard fantastic things about the mich Pilot SS. However, last I checked, they were 1100 for a set.

shoman mentioned the Nexen N3000, but I can't find them in 245/45R20.

Any other suggestions? Stock 2013 PP rims of 245/45R20

Hankook V12 evo 255/45ZR/20 .... awesome summer sport tire ..... A tick wider than stock , will fit just fine.

LOVE THEM  ! ! !

I noticed the repalcement GY supercar tires are like $140 ea in the stock sizes and everything in a 255/40 R-20 was like $255 each. I wanted wider but not for almost $100 each !?

My son just put 255/40/20 on his MKS for $125 each plus install including TPMS. Online buy...heat and load ratings excellent and a good draining aggressive tread.  I'll get the brand when he gets home so you can check it out if you want.

I HAD TO GO WITH 245x40x20 for DD and 275x40x20 for the track. 1010tires.com have 245x40x20 for $165.00! My stock lasted 25000mi. Had some Falken knock the fwd end out of alignment and with the Electronic steering I NEVER KNEW!!! UNTIL the Falken started wearing out at 8000mi. I have had the NEXEN for about 20-23,000mi they are still very good, they are 30-40kmi tire.

If you can get the Goodyear Supercar tire for $145 why would you even consider a Falken or Nexen tire?Aren't they made in China? ???

Did the service folks explain how a tire alone changed your alignment? ... I just never heard of that...I remember when we shaved tires sometimes because they weren't round...... educate me please. TIA

Name any American Auto that has no parts From China/Mexico/Canada or elsewhere.

Falken makes some Damn good tires  ... not sure of the Nexen ... Hankook is Korean , another well reguarded Mfg. with a good reputation .

Wheels made in Asian countries are another matter .
They come and go too often  , usually to reapear as a New Mfg.
Many have bad QC reputation's ... Be very carefull If you think you might pick one

Well, I think Goodyear is going to have a lot better QC than something from those countries IMO.For me it's Goodyear,Continental or Michelin.

I hit a curve backing out a parking space. That hit knock the front out of alignment but the electronic steering will keep correcting the alignment fill and direction to a point. Keeping the driver in the dark about the alignment problem.

The Goodyear are good but don't wear long and in 2010 they were $385ea at SAM's. By 2013 they were discontinued at SAM's but at Direct tire they were now only $205 in Jan, $145 by Nov. All the tire Co. do this just before a new Hi Price new model comes out. Like now the N3000 NEXEN are being discontinued the price is coming down but sizes are getting harder to find.

Ya! That makes complete sense! (I thought you were talking just about the tires, sorry)..... kinda like when power steering first can out.  Electric steering combined with a smart car is definitely different for me.
