My name is Will Dempsey. I am a SGT in the WVARNG and currently deployed as a flight medic. Back home I am a industrial hygiene technician along with numerous other things occupation health and safety related.

I currently am researching 2013-2014 CPO Taurus SHO and am curious everyone's opinions and the PP package? Does it increase the long term reliability etc? Any advice anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and hope you having a great day.

Welcome aboard the E.B.P.F SGT and would definitely recommend a Performance package with almost  essentially the same characteristics as a Police interceptor and best of luck and thanks for joining.  Z  :usa: :salute:  :usa:

Welcome aboard Will, I second zsho on that definitely go for the PP Higher gear ratio and it allows you to turn advanced trac off, and various other things.

I can also say that if you do end up getting one you will not be disappointed with it once so ever, I had an 11 mustang 5.0 that was decently modified and personally like my SHO better.

I've pretty well made my mind up on getting a SHO W/ PP 2013 or 2014 under 30,000 miles CPO with my current budget. Appreciate the input and being made feel welcome the last car I built years ago was a 05' Subaru Legacy Gt so the ecoboost is a new type of beast for me. I'm wanting to stay safe in what I modify so I'm looking at livernois mostly.

IIRC, LMS does extend military discounts. Just have to mention/ask.

I would say safe is 365hp and 350 ft/lb torque at the crank...i dont think LMS offers any tunes like that

LMS does do military discounts. I would have to check my receipt, but I think they took off $50 for me.

Honestly the best thing I can see about the PP reliability wise is the increased cooling. But budget wise the best thing would be the lower gear ratio. To get that on a non-pp would cost a pretty penny.

Exactly.....he mentioned wanting to stay safe so he would mod accordingly and look to lms.....i hate the suggested combo of safe and modding...im sure some will disagree but i dont care....i wouldnt look to LMS, unleashed, or me or anyone other than ford if you want safe

Dont believe me?...browse this forum a short time and you will see tales of knock retard, wierd bov noises. Turbo howling , shifting problems list goes on

I love modding and programming, but i would be on board with the oem's if that put a tamper device kn the obd port...the amount of resources dealers put into troubleshooting peoples cars is staggering...and often they bite the bullet because they cant prove one way or another....i hate sticking up for them but.....it actually fraud, and people arent even bashful about it when they are like hey you think they will know if i flash back to stock when i take the car in because the tranny is slipping?

I get what you are saying but my stock tune had way more KR than tuned.

I would not be on board with OBD tamper proof measures unless they would like to provide my car for free.

I take every precaution to make sure my vehicle runs in a safe environment and am mindful to stay within the published specs. Ford likes to tout how strong the Ecoboost is when they're talking abut race cars (80% stock, etc) but then want to void warranties cause someone slaps on some downpipes. That's BS. They can't have it both ways.

Another thing, Ford chose to screw over the guys buying their flagship sedan when they made warrantied tunes available for every turbo car minus the SHO. Nature (and the car aftermarket world) abhors a vacuum.

I dont think the OP mentioned, specified what type of Mod in particular he was referencing to,could be an intake for what its worth!!!!.  Z

Can't mod and ask OEM to cover...Just not fair...too many variables they can't control. But good for us they still do

And the onus is on the OEM to prove the mod is or isn't the culprit? If I made a product then someone tinkered with it then I was made to investigate I'd just say nah I'm not selling to you lol....It causes me too much grief lol

It's the whole reason there are tamper tags on electronics, It's on you if you open the case...I still can't believe the automotive world hasn't followed suit....Has to be coming, I've read that it is

I could blow the heads off a SHO with less than stock boost levels if I wanted....

Thanks again everyone for the input and knowledge shared.... Sorry for the play on words like"safe" to create such a laugh on my intro. I never meant for a Warrenty to cover the vehicle after modification just to clarify. Hope everyone is have a great week and keep up all the great topics
