Hello,

I have a 2013 SHO w/PP, bought it new.  I installed a K&N CAI this summer.  It woke it up a little bit now I am looking to do some more to it because I believe it can get even better.

I joined because it looks like there are plenty of knowledgeable members here and I can get some great advice on what works best.

I have been thinking about the Livernois tune with a 3bar MAP.  Not sure if I'm convinced about changing the thermostat or plugs.

Also looking at making it sound better.  Not necessarily to get more horsepower just to make it rumble a bit.

Any advice or links to good threads would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Welcome bfowler, put up some pics of that beast :D

Dont need to change tstat, but should put new plugs in at the very least.  Motorcraft SP534 workks fine.  Though I hear rumors the SP542 might be even better in this application.

Maintenance should also be stepped up once tuned.  Change all powertrain fluids right away, then follow at least the severe service (idling/towing) intervals.  Plugs will need to be changed more frequently as well, typically 30k or so.

Yesss growing the CO SHO army!! There's a good handful of us in the state if not more. Whereabouts in CO are you?

as far as tune goes it's all according to your goals and preferences.
livernois is great for a set it and forget it tune and can tune for cooler thermostat and/or plugs or not.
purchasing an SCT device will open up your options for tuners but requires a little more involvement from you.(datalogging through the device and such)

Greetings from Nebraska. I'm new as well and am thinking of the same mods you are.
I was wondering if a cooler T-stat affects heater operation at all?

Greg

No it does not.  Think about it.  The temps stated for a TStat are opening temps.  So a 160F TStat opens at 160F.  That is still PLENTY hot air to go around.  The only worry is during installation a) put it in the right way, and b) take it easy on the bolts for the housing as they like to crossthread/break off under force.

I'm in Longmont.  I'm all for the set it and forget it tune.  Not sure if I have the patience for data logging.

Thanks
