New member here and new Ecoboost owner in NE Ohio. Just traded my 2013 Explorer XLT on a 2015 Explorer Sport...it's the vehicle I've always wanted. After reading in different forums about the carbon build up and water pump/engine problems I'm hoping mine is going to be problem free. I bought it with 56k miles on it and come to find out at approx 54k miles the previous owner had it in for repair under warranty for CEL. The dealership ended up replacing a sensor, timing chain and one of the turbos...along with some other miscellaneous items. First thing I did after getting it was change whatever oil was in it to Mobile 1 Annual with Mobile 1 filter. Next item will be an oil catch can......then some other small mods. Hoping to have it for quite a while and to enjoy being a member on her.

Welcome to the community, JaRN99, congrats on the new ride!  How many miles do you normally put on your vehicles per year?  What is your planned Oil Change Interval?

The warranty with the oil

I would call them up and make sure the 20K miles/1 year applies to turbocharged engines.  Turbocharged engines operate under what we consider "severe" conditions, what does Mobil1 say?  1-800-662-4525

Good luck, and x2 on the pics :D

Welcome Ja!

And as SHodded said, make sure you can run that oil at a 20k interval...Even the Amsoil singnature series which I love doesn't recommend that long of an interval change for severe duty. Amsoil is only 15,000 for severe duty and that is true synthetic group IV oil...I'm not sure what mobile EP is....For what is costs I'm guessing it still the fake synthetic hydro-cracked petroleum based oil.

I Agree with AJP and SHOdded. I also run mobile one with K&N oil filter, however I still change the oil at the manufacturers, (ford), recommended interval of 10000 miles.

I cant get any better oil here without paying thru the nose for it. Cant beat the PX prices for mobile one 15000 extended protection in Germany, basically half price.

I've been averaging approx 12k a year. Even though the oil is good for a year they say I'm still going to follow the vehicle oil change warning. When it warns me it's time to change the oil then that's what I'll do.

I think anyone going over 7,500 miles between changes in a direct injected turbo charged engine is insane regardless of what engine oil they're using.  Ignore the OLM altogether.
