Ordered new shocks and struts, arrived bad

So I ordered new shocks and struts from rockauto.  Both rear shocks did not have the bands installed on them and one is faulty. You can compress it with one hand easily and it rebounds very very slowly.

One front strut that showed up is leaking oil, turn it upside down and it pours out.

All shocks were in sealed Monroe boxes.

I'm pissed off to say the least. Already emailed rockauto.

O you wanted NEW struts, they said!  Hope they get you squared away right quick, Nate.  I personally never had a problem with parts from RockAuto, but it's been a while since my last one.

Just talked to them on the phone. They are paying return shipping and sending new parts asap.  Extremely good customer service so far. They are requesting the warehouse open the new parts and verify they are not tampered with or faulty before shipping them to me.

Mistakes can and will happen. It's the way the company handles the mistake that counts. Good to hear they took some responsibility and are working hard and fast to remedy the situation.

I am really surprised in the customer service and how good it is so far.  I'm surprised the parts showed up all messed up though in the first place

Amen brother!

Bad news again.  I got 3 boxes in the mail today. Two for shocks and one for a strut.  The two shock boxes contained 1 shock, and two sets of mounting hardware.  The one strut box was just fine, everything was there.

These were drop shipped from Monroe, in Arkansas.

Both shock boxes had been opened and retaped at the ends.  The one that was there had the top cover unbolted and was loose, and there was no containment band installed on it.

Rockauto is refunding my money for the shocks. I'm keeping the struts.

Going to walk into AutoZone tomorrow and order shocks and see them in person before taking them home.

Wow...  I wouldn't even bother putting the Monroe's on after this sort of experience.  Spend the extra dollars, and put on Motorcraft replacements.  RockAuto has always been good to me as far as parts and service go, but they really dropped the ball if they inspected the parts the second time they shipped.  Unacceptable.  Never been a fan of Monroe either though.

I went through the same thing with rock a little over a year ago when I replaced the stock shocks an struts after approx a week of back and forth I asked for a refund and picked up the rest of what I needed locally.

Ugh!  Sorry to see this ... again!  I second going with Motorcraft this time, get them from Fred Bead or Tasca or Levittown for a good price.

I ordered the KYB shocks for the rear from AutoZone and I pick them up tomorrow at my local store.  If I have any issues with the front struts from Monroe I am gonna throw the biggest fit this forum has ever seen! LOL

Rockauto customer service is top notch though.  They were on top of it as soon as I called and are making me happy. I wont hesitate to order from them again, just not Monroe shocks.
