Paint defect new vehicle.

SO i have the new-2016-Explorer Sport 2 days and decide to wax.  Notice a couple imperfections on hood.  Small, but now I know they are there.  Look like rock chips.  Into dealer.  He examines-says not into the paint or through clear coat.  Had his guy wet sand/buff etc... Comes out and says you cant feel them but are still visible.  He thinks from dirt in paint process and no color got to cover those spots.  His recommendation is to do nothing further-reasoning that in repainting the hood the curing-baking process will not be at as high a temp as original.  Will look good for a while-but will it hold up for say seven years?  What will it look like then?  So my decision-to go with three small-pin head size-marks in hood or have it repainted.

Any thoughts out there from the collective expertise of this forum?  Color is Ingot Silver Metallic.

Appreciate any and all remarks.

Thanks

Have you talked with the sales manager/dealership manager?  ThCould call Ford National Customer Service (number should be in the Owner's Manual) and see what they have to say.  I am not hopeful, but considering that you are first owner/brand new vehicle situation, they may put in a proper fix for this issue.  Just be sure to be extra nice :D

Worst comes to worst, have a reputable detailer examine and correct those imperfections.  If that still doesn't satisfy, repaint, or seal in with a coat or two of CQuartz Finest / Opticoat etc.

If there are only a few pin sized rock chips would personaly leave it alone, the only thing that i would do is for the dealer to give you a free touch up pen kit and have there body shop touch up those chips and check to see if there are any more, honestly its not worth having a new vehicle painted, you never going to get that factory finish paint job, best of luck and keep us updated.  Z
