Anyone know the technique used to plasti dip the pockets of the 2010 rims to the 2013 style? I saw pictures on an older forum. Picture attached of what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

I assume you'd take the wheel off, mask the "unwanted" surfaces off, and go wild with the plastidip (5-6 thin coats, with drying time in between).

^^^quality assumptions. I think it was SHOmanMike that painted these rims a blue to match car if my memory serves me right

Here is my wheels, blue is paint not dip, and the black is tape to work on my design.

Im digging it. So when you went to tape off did you use like just thin masking tape to contour the curves?

How long did it take you to get it all done?

I worked in the airplane paint shop 1 yr in my 20yrs US NAVY time. The black tape was vinyl tape. The mask off for the blue was 1/4in, 1/2in and 2in painter tape.

In my experience, the plasti dip tends to stick to the tape, so I wouldn't know how to get those clean lines like the guy did from shoforum.

I see you got balck rims, grill and bezzels. How do you feel about the painted black stockers?

They are plasti dip black with a glossifier. They actually look good when they are clean. I get lots of compliments with them. I have always liked the look of the 2013 style rim, that's why I'm looking to change.
