Perf Pkg and Police Interceptor - front brakes and winter road salt

For those with the SHO Performance Package or the Police Interceptor Sedans, the front rotors seem to use a special dust shield that is cut away so the rotor is exposed more to open air (not unlike the GT500 shields). I was wondering how many miles you have and how your rotors/brakes looked when driven daily even though road salt during the winter. I have the non-PP with the full shields, and my rotors at 3 years  / 21k miles look ok with the usual rust on the non-braking surfaces. I bought the PP shields which were dirt cheap and I'm just wondering if I should use them considering Southeast Michigan basically dumps the entire Dead Sea salt content on our roads in the winter.

Any pictures showing the difference in the shields?  I may switch out the ones on my Flex for additional brake cooling.  ;-)

I see there's a different part for the PP SHO, but haven't found an actual picture.  They look to be under $6 each.  I didn't catch those when I swapped to PP calipers and Raybestos police rotors.  With how cheap they are, it seems to be a no brainer.

The 13 up SHO rotors used the reverse cooling vanes that face outboard, so I'm not sure what the PP/Police shields accomplish other than expose the surfaces to air more readily
