Poor Fuel Mileage After Tune.

i have a 2012 Titanium Ecoboost Flex all stock except a emailed tune from Torrie. Am i the only one that noticed a pretty significant decrease in fuel mileage after the tune? No its not because i put my foot into it more..... i will have to say i love the tune otherwise, its really a new car with the tune installed. any feedback would be appreciated

Details on the tune?  Optimized for performance or mpg?  What octane?  How many miles since you loaded the tune?  Generally, the best thing is to send datalogs back to Torrie so he can see what is going on.

I have the LMS 93 octane tune and picked 1 mpg. Granted I pay more for 93 but the fun factor out ways the fuel premium.  Something doesn't sound right with your tune. I would check with Torrie. He has great customer service and will help you figure out if you have a problem or not.

It's really hard to determine fuel mileage differences unless you are driving the exact same route at the exact same speeds. I had a torrie tune and did not notice a difference.

Your car runs closed loop most of the time unless you are constantly deep into the pedal. Also because of the direct injection they can run much leaner even under high loads(boost). Ususally fuel enrichment isn't even commanded until 70% throttle. On my wideband still run stoich even at 8 psi which was alarming to me but I was assured it was normal.

You'd have to datalog and see if you are running lower than 14 afr to confirm that fuel economy would be down. Under part throttle the 1.0 lambda is 14.069 AFR in the stock calibration not 14.7 like most think.

I think people just pay closer attention after a tune. And simply resetting your fuel economy gauges is not a good test.

Most everyone gets same or better mileage when driving normal.  Cold weather and use of remote start will kill mileage. Also hand calculate mileage from miles traveled divided by gallons filled. How long has the tune been in use? What Grade of fuel are you sing?

I get the same and sometimes 1 mpg better with my LMS 3 bar.  However if I play hard, it uses more than stock.

Sorry i should have included more info......

I have a 87 octane performance, 87 octane MPG and a 91 octane boost tune. i do drive the same route everyday to work and just cruising ill average between 15 - 20 miles per tank less with the 91 octane boost tune. What really made me keep my eye on the fuel mileage is about a month ago i took the flex on a long trip and i installed the 87 octane MPG tune and something was definitely wrong by the time i got to half tank i only went 125 miles, freeway no traffic cruising 70 - 75. Stock i get 200 miles at half tank.

As others have said, fuel consumption is way up when you get on it...So if you are mixing in some spirited driving while monitoring your economy it will kill it...You are dumping a ton more fuel when at 15 psi compared to 8 psi even when the AFR is 11.0...It takes more fuel to maintain that AFR when load is higher

I have data logged and sent them to Torrie, i guess he didnt see anything that was odd. i could send them if someone cares to look......

When exactly did that rattle start after or before you installed the tune?any codes or dtc present?how many miles on your flex do you have?basically if you noticed the decrease in mpg the same time as the rattle, could be contributed to the rattle.

ZSHO, i did take this into consideration due to the fact that the rattle did start post tune, however my fuel mileage is pretty much normal with no tune installed. I honestly think the rattle is a timing chain tensioner or a bad lifter. basically it only rattles after sitting all night so whatever it is has time to bleed off

I'm pretty sure his tune only alters WOT settings and shifting.

Under normal driving your mileage should be same as stock.

How many miles on the car and any other mods? Update your signature with your modifications and car information so we can help you better. Did you purchase SP-534 plugs and gap them to .030 or .028?

Purchase one of the following cleaners below and clean out both your MAP sensors, near the intake and on the very top of the intake manifold beneath the engine cover. Pull your battery 30 minutes then flash your tune and record the next half tank.
